Seriously -- have trump and the billionaire asshats awoken a sleeping giant? Maybe they have!

And if the media starts telling the truth about things, an avalanche of progressive power may crush trump and his anti-american followers.

Any reactions? You think a great turning may be happening?

Always remember, they are, for the most part, actors hired to 'read a script."

And the script changes from episode to episode,, depending on how the ratings go....

Of the character played by Keanu Reaves. There was one line by Pacino about the forces of hell overwhelming everything. Super rich people, companies and regular rich Americans and world players will insist on keeping every cent of their financial gains until they have completely destitute do 85% of the rest of the world - when that happens, all hell will likely break lose, the rich will likely be slaughtered and everything they own taken - chaos likely will reign as people willing to be the most vicious will rule - basically, the whole world will likely become a violence prone hellhole like none seen before in history. In short, things will likely not change and get infinitely much worse, wealth will become more concentrated, but if the rich were smart, they would start today working to insure more uniform wealth distribution.

yes there's alot of resistance out there, but there's also still alot of support in the middle of the country. what will ultimately break trump wont be his insane Twitter ramblings, foreign policy debacles, travels bans, billionaire row on the cabinet, Steve Bannon's shadow gov't. No, it will be if the economy starts tanking again. That happens and the Dems will win in 2020 big, if its doing pretty well I could easily see Trump being reelected (so help me God)

Back when Bush stole the 2000 election, some people who were otherwise fairly reasonable comforted themselves with the notion that there was a silver lining -- that there would be a big backlash against him. ("Just wait, you'll see...&quot

That didn't work out so well.

I don't see a Great Turning yet.

The nation is sick. Over and over, we've had a choice: make some serious lifestyle changes that will vastly improve our health, or take a cocktail of various poisons (some of which make you feel good for a while). There are some exceptions, but in general, the electorate goes for the poisonous cocktail. (With the concoction offered by DT and co being the most poisonous of all.)

The question is, how long will it take for the symptoms to manifest? Soon enough for the electorate to recognize what's happening, stop taking the poison, make those lifestyle changes, and get healthy? Or will the poison act 'silently," until there is a massive collapse, and a long, painful recovery?

I would LOVE to see an avalanche of progressive power put us on the road to health, but I fear it will be several years before the effects of DT's great dismantling are obvious to the electorate. And that by the time that happens, it will be too late to prevent an enormous amount of human suffering.

The economy is unlikely to fall apart overnight. In short order, we'll see banks leveraged at something like 50-1 again (with the "1" being investment in some bullshit derivatives that will inevitably collapse). DT is turning the foundation of the financial system into quicksand, but it could easily take more than four years for the structure to fall.

Re: decimation of environment protections. Tragically, environmental catastrophes don't tend to inflame the electorate. (e.g., didn't see sustained national protests or demands for punitive action after this horrific event.) Effects of climate change will continue to build, but are unlikely to disrupt enough people in the next few years for the electorate to unequivocally demand action (or blame DT for failing to act).

If DT starts a war, DT could actually see a bump in the polls. (I would hope not, but the American electorate in "wartime" is a strange and unpredictable thing.)

We could see more immediate negative effects from some aspects of DT trade/foreign policy.* For example, if Iran cancels the deal with Boeing, it will put a lot of people out of work. Enough biggies like that could send disapproval through the roof.

I don't like the notion of hoping for bad things, but we'll be better off if the shit hits the fan sooner rather than later. The sooner, the less bad overall.

*The label "policy" fails to capture DT's incoherent, reactionary, disjointed, convulsive conduct in the areas of foreign relations and trade. Wish I could come up with a more fitting label. Any suggestions?

He made some pretty specific promises to struggling white people that he can't fulfill.

The Muslim Ban is a distraction. We should point out how ill- thought it was but it is not a game changer.

We need strong leaders who can go ino the poor white parts of America and engage them in a way they've never been engaged. I think in some ways we have spent too much energy over- celebrating some of our human rights causes (and victories). But when you are a single parent (or even married) who struggles to make ends meet, you don't have time or the energy to care. Instead, you get a little bitter and say, what about me?

These people are not part of the alt- religious who have taken up extremist religion as an excuse to not make their lives better. No, these people are everyday people who struggle. More than likely, they sleep in on Sunday, unless they have to work.

We need them. And as more time goes on and everything goes to the rich, it will become very clear what this presidency is about.
