1. I am a huge Maher fan but that's one thing I do not agree with.

Especially in America - if you support the first amendment the "radical Islamists" have every bit of a right to free speech as radical Christians do. Reforming Islam could take decades and cost thousands of lives. Changing beliefs is not something that is easy to do.

between Muslims and other Canadians. The Syrian refugees being welcomed in the last year, Canadian anger at alt right inspired spray painting mosques, and then the outpouring of love and affection after the Quebec city shooting have opened our hearts and lots of people are sharing their deepest feelings. Don't know how you open hearts and minds on Islam or anything else without respect. And you have to remember many Muslim immigrants come from places where you don't show any weakness or love to "others". We'll try it this way and see how it goes. We are learning from each other. There are serious issues. I hope the openness continues.

4. With all due respect, Bill, reforming Islam is not your job

or our job. It's their job and there is tremendous pressure on them to change, mostly from the youthful majority, who have no interest in living in some imagined past when everybody was pure and moral.

6. The bigger point

Bill's stance is really that all religion is bullshit. Which I agree with. Worshipping a god no one has ever seen is about as ass- backward as it gets. From that stand point, these various religions are nothing more than social organizations with strange ceremonies. As a social organization, Islam needs to reform. I would say the same thing about Christianity. And any other religion. Enough already!
