General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhen this episode of history runs its course, who will be to blame?
Will we blame the press for not informing the people enough? Will they be blamed for "normalizing" a madman?
Or will we blame the Democrats for not fighting hard enough? They should not have approved any of his nominees that helped him destroy our country?
Or will we blame the Mexicans for invading our country and taking all our jobs and forcing us to close our borders? Or will we blame the Muslims that were coming into our country to kill us?
Or will we blame Barack Obama for being a "secret" Muslim and a racist? Will we say that he was just lucky that he kept us out of war for eight years? Will we say that he divided this country more than anytime since our Great Civil War?
Nobody knows how or where this episode is going to end? Will our democracy survive? Will we submit to a dictatorship? Will we be in another war? Will we slide into an economic depression?
Who to blame? Who to blame?

(9,670 posts)Who allowed themselves to be propagandized over the period of several decades, who place party over nation, who mourn the success of the opposition party and who are willing to suspend fact and reason and view the man in office as a crusader for their misdirected causes.
It's lazy, stupid, hateful Americans that caused this. Trump is the cancerous symptom of their disease.

(43,049 posts)The fundamental premise of the American experiment is that the people have the will and knowledge to chart their own future.
We have charted it, and we own it.
And no amount of "But Bernie..." or "I voted for Hillary..." will erase the simple fact that we as a nation have elected the biggest asshole in history to the most important job on the planet.

(35,039 posts)It'll just be like Bush. In whatever amount of time Trump is no longer President, people who voted for Trump will all be denying that they voted for or even supported the man-child.
