I've read that it is $12-15 Billion. Is it worth trying to correct them?

(7,430 posts)Oh, and let's remember that the US will have to HIRE MEXICAN CONTRACTORS to build the wall because the costs of using US contractors whose resources are at great distances away from the border will be prohibitive.
So, what started out as a WALL for which Mexico will pay ends up being a Construction Project paid for by US taxpayers and subcontracted to MEXICAN businesses!
How's that for Trumpy keeping his promises? Eh, Fanboys?

I would try to call them, but CNN isn't easy to get a hold of. Pretty important distinction I think.

(2,297 posts)Think of how long it takes to get a politically incorrect Pipeline approved and built. And a Pipeline can be routed as convenient to some degree. Not so with a border wall. Some possibilities are
1) New President stops wall
2) Economy tanks and no one can pay
3) Economy booms and there is no labor
And probably a thousand other options
I believe that something gets started and nothing gets finished. The wall is a distraction for everyone. Mexican illegal immigration is not an ongoing issue at this time. Mexican drug smuggling, which is responsible for 90% of the illegal drugs in the US. That is the real issue. I support legalization of drugs. Keeping them illegal creates a lot of problems in the US.
Marijuana: Mexico is the number one foreign supplier of marijuana to the United States, and marijuana is thought to be the top revenue generator for Mexican drug cartels.
Cocaine: Mexico does not produce cocaine, however, Mexican cartels move Columbian cocaine through South and Central America and into the United States. An estimated 93 percent of cocaine headed to the US from South America moves through Mexico.
Methamphetamine: Mexico remains the biggest foreign supplier of methamphetamine to the United States, and Mexican drug cartels set up labs to manufacture meth on both sides of the border, controlling labs in Southern California as well as domestically.
