You know I am afraid...

I am on twitter. I see the "President" lashing out. He is in a powerful position, and I want to say things to him, that others do, but afraid I will end up with my name on a list of travel bans or have the FBI knocking on my door. Yeah it feels like we are under fascism.

No, I have seen no proof of people disappearing, or Firing Squads.. But who wants the Secret Service knocking on your door?

I didn't feel this way about President Obama, but I liked what he did generally. I never wanted to send a tweet nor fear it would show up on the front page of the NY Times, like Trump does...

Yeah he can say whatever he wanted on Twitter, and no one can stop him. But I am afraid to reply. I am a person of color, and have no real power in this country, unless I became a public servant. (Is there such things any more, or are there just rulers?)

This is a whole new Country, we have entered into. It doesn't feel safe anymore, and if I have lost my freedom of speech, what does that make us? I seriously want to speak out, but can't and won't. I guess the only thing we can do, is work underground to protest in a way that won't eventually get us killed.

is one of the most recent unconstitutional actions by Donald "What the fuck is that thing on my head?" Trump. I don't mean to exclude anyone as a potential target, I wouldn't doubt if he targeted anyone that wasn't rich, white, and male. I mean I cover two of those categories except for rich and I REALLY don't like Trump so not all of us white males are Trump supporters .

Take heart that people are out in the streets protesting and that we still have courts that can stop a lot of his worst things.

But yeah while I think FDR was one of our best Presidents the internment camps are a stain on his legacy and I hope that Trump does not invoke FDR to bring them back.

I'm just an old white lady (70 yrs old), and I know very little about the experience of people of color. But please believe me that there are plenty of white people, Asian people, people of all ethnicities, who have your back. Get connected with some organization, where you can contribute your time and energy to helping others. We need community to survive and thrive. There is no rule that says you do or don't have to do anything in particular online. Maybe just reading peoples' different posts to keep up with the Progressive views and news is all you can do right now. But that's a lot. You're educating yourself and hopefully forming carefully considered opinions. Stay calm and do what you need to do to feel safe. Thanks for sharing.

I talked with an elderly woman recently who told me their family lost everything when ordered to report to the Internment Camps. They had five days to get their stuff in order, basically selling everything they had and leaving stuff behind so others might have it.. Their houses taken, and than only bring what they could carry. They were sent to a Race track, and lived in horses barns for several days before shipping out to the unknown which turned out to be the Manzanar Internment Camp.,

Some fancy name for that sign, ne?

She told me when many were let go at the end, most of them didn't want to return to San Francisco and went on to live in San Jose or Los Angeles, the memory of having all their stuff taken, and their homes taken from them, brought back too much sorrow.

If you're looking for a scapegoat, you don't go European because they all look like us. Too many of 'em anyway. And Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, so the Japanese were the perfect scapegoats.

First I've heard of Chinese being hired to point out the Japanese. That would be funny if it wasn't so obscene.

A side note-- one company I worked for had a US Navy WWII vet and a Japanese Army war vet in the same department and they were best friends. Maybe there is hope after all.

Many American soldiers could not tell Japanese apart from other Asians. That's why they hired Chinese to point out Japanese people. The name was a big give away but mostly their faces and how they looked, and Chinese knew this. I am surprised though that many Korean's didn't end up at the camps by mistake, but I am sure if they were asked their name, and it was something like "Kim" ..they were left alone. Plus Korean's do have a different facial appearance as well but close to Japanese.

During WWI, one of my immigrant German family was gunned down in the street even though he had been here for fifty years, and was a citizen.

from Wikipedia:

"The Justice Department attempted to prepare a list of all German aliens, counting approximately 480,000 of them, more than 4,000 of whom were imprisoned in 1917-18. The allegations included spying for Germany, or endorsing the German war effort.[19] Thousands were forced to buy war bonds to show their loyalty.[20] The Red Cross barred individuals with German last names from joining in fear of sabotage. One person was killed by a mob; in Collinsville, Illinois, German-born Robert Prager was dragged from jail as a suspected spy and lynched."

More at the links

Hatred and paranoia are doggedly persistent afflictions. They are highly infectious, and stubbornly resistant to remedies.

The reviving of sinking American merchant ships and the Zimmerman telegram pretty much did in any anti-war and pro German sentiments.

since its a very diverse city. We probably have many Muslims here but we also have other kinds of people, not all of them are white. Jerry Brown stated recently that he would Protect California from the grip of Donald Trump, but if Trump wanted to send federal troops into Chicago, what's to prevent him from doing the same for Los Angeles and San Francisco. He knows these towns are full of Mexicans, but there are also many Chinese here.

Seriously, I believe him to be a racist, and one that has low tolerances for people of "other". I hope Jerry Brown will protect us from the present US government and not target people who don't look like him.

I was told, by the way, that in 2018 California would start to have stores that would legally sell Marijuana but for now, all we seem to get are edibles and I bought my first Edible yesterday!! I was so happy, I got to buy a baggie of gummy frogs, that have pot in it. They said there was little THC in it, but it was still good for pains and depression. I do have both, so I bought a bag for thirty bucks and tried it at home before bed, and slept like a baby.

It did give me the munchies and I had cotton mouth but I am not sure that it was that good, but I did feel a little better, mentally.

The price was 30 dollars for a small packet of five of them! That's expensive but If I do like them, at least I know where to get them, within walking distance of my house. They told me that bags of pot will not be available until 2018 when licencing will be required. I look forward to the day I can start vaping, and see if that helps any with my depression.

I find that that phrase holds a lot of truth to it. The seeds baked into the cake remind me of blueberries baked into muffins. Not sure what's on top but all I know is the top looks good.

As for the highlight of my day Well I'm looking forward to watching the latest episode of Dragon Ball Super in about 30 minutes but that's going to be the highlight of my day probably.

You are extremely cultured though but of course unlike what Donald Trump thinks that's not really a bad thing because you know the old adage of knowledge is power and that holds a lot of truth to it. If you think about it in that way you are more powerful than Donald Trump as Trump is a very ignorant (also arrogant) man.

I thought I could buy the game and put the Play Station on lay away, but they refused to hold it, and said the PS4 WOULD probably be sold if I didn't buy it. So, what did I do? I emptied out my bank account getting it, and now down to zero dollars for the rest of the month.

I did go shopping earlier and all my bills are paid, but damn, lets hope an emergency won't pop up cause all i have left is a 20 dollar bill for the rest of the month. Love games, but geeze, I should have found a place that does lay aways.

Particularly The Legend of Zelda stuff. Believe me I have my Switch paid off, got the Limited Edition for Breath of the Wild (also paid off) and have preordered all five of the Amiibos and my grocery budget was tight for the week over preordering the Switch.

Like you I make sure all of my bills are paid before I try to blow my money.

You can be smart but still have impulses over things you like, I do it all the time. It doesn't mean you're not smart it just means that you will sometimes let impulses for things you like take control, and it can't always be helped.

Besides I've seen way worse things than blowing money on a game system. I've seen people spend every penny they have hoping to hit it rich at a Casino then losing everything. At least with a game system you are gaining something .

One time I walked into a casino with $2 and walked out with $10 and I said "That's food money". The thing I learned about gambling is to quit while you're ahead.

Believe me there's plenty of imports I want from Japan but unfortunately I can't have it all at once. The only thing I can think of that I own that would be extremely difficult to find on the internet is my OoT 3D Zelda stand that they used to display OoT on at Gamestop. I actually use that to store my Limited Edition Zelda stuff.
