I'm not deflecting any blame away from him, but he was blotto and shouldn't be allowed to get to that point.

MacKinnon admitted a racially aggravated public order offence when he appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court on Tuesday. He was fined £1154, plus £50 compensation, a £150 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

I wonder if it would be constitutional to enact laws to allow fines for this sort of thing here. I wish we could, not that this bunch of racist-enabling Congressional leaders would ever do so.
If it were legal, perhaps states and local governments could, but I'm not sure if this crap would be protected as "free speech" in the US constitutionally. Anyone know of any case law testing that?

(7,808 posts)To make it even worse, he sounds like he was educated at a top university, which would make him an educated elite. Can someone who knows more about British accents correct me if I'm wrong? It sounds like he speaks with received pronunciation (which is how Oxford and Cambridge grads speak).
