Lady Gaga got her digs in - This Land is Your Land is apparently an anthem at anti-trump Rallies

So... she did do a protest song!

http://www.theverge.com/2017/2/5/14517858/lady-gaga-super-bowl-2017-halftime-show-protest-song

In a Super Bowl performance that spanned her entire discography, Lady Gaga opened her act with a rendition of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” which has become a popular anthem at rallies protesting President Trump across the country. Standing atop the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, Gaga started the song back by a massive fleet of drones before leaping onto her stage. It was a stunning start to an over-the-top set that, while not overtly political, was certainly aimed at her political fans.

she'd do. I think she decided to go for unity but got her messages across indirectly.

Overall, am disappointed, but wonder if she just couldn't come up with exactly the right thing. Something tells me she must have thought it over a ton

The deplorable don't get subtle. But, as a musician I'll never say she should have done anything. Ultimately, it's her artistic expression, not mine. All I'm saying is she's such a strong woman I expected a stronger message.

"subtle is perfect".

The more obvious and militant would have played right into their hands.

Telephone is a duet with she and Beyonce. They danced the same moves in the video...she didn't copy anything.

Where he included a verse often left out speaking of seeing a sign that said no tresspasing, but on the other side saying nothing. That side was made for you and me.

Many folk singers, like Pete Seeger included that song at festivals.

It's interesting to see the country unite in opposition to Trump. Usually people go their own ways, silver lining is that now we realize what's at stake!

Woody Guthrie originally wrote "This Land" as a rebuttal to the arrogant ultrapatriotism of "God Bless"

There are photos you can find of the first draft, in which Woody ends each verse with the question "DID God bless America for ME?"
