So the "She's so nasty" bunch thinks SNL is "too mean"?

Reap what you sow, pals!

Slate - Sean Spicer Says Melissa McCarthy Needs to “Dial Back,” and SNL Is Too “Mean”

By David Canfield

Sean Spicer had a decidedly mixed reaction to Melissa McCarthy’s brash (and strikingly accurate) SNL impersonation, telling Extra’s A.J. Calloway at Sunday’s Super Bowl that while he thought she was “funny,” the comic actress could stand to “dial back” her exaggerated portrayal.

Of course, by the time Spicer weighed in, McCarthy’s performance had already gone viral to an intensely positive response. David Itzkoff wrote for the New York Times that she “stole the show,” Elahe Izadi argued that she “absolutely crushed it” for the Washington Post, and the Twitterverse lit up with high praise.

Best SNL sketch in years. Melissa McCarthy is a modern day Jackie Gleason.https://t.co/nCt65PdpFE

But really, Melissa McCarthy was so spot-on with the Sean Spicer imitation. This White House really is a disaster.

Melissa McCarthy has a 108 MPH comedy fastball.

— Seth Meyers (@sethmeyers) February 5, 2017
Melissa McCarthy's Spicer was great precisely because she didn't go "funny"; she dug in, deadly serious, without comment or camp.

— Michael McKean (@MJMcKean) February 5, 2017
McCarthy’s performance primarily mocked Spicer’s aggro channeling of the Trump administration’s unending insecurities, closely mirroring that now-infamous press conference that mixed aimless griping with erroneous crowd-size measuring. As McCarthy’s SNL caricature of Spicer described Trump’s Supreme Court nomination announcement: “When [Trump] entered the room, the crowd greeted him with a standing ovation, which lasted a full 15 minutes. And you check the tape on that—everyone was smiling, everyone was happy!” So while Spicer may be right about the exaggeration, it’s hard to deny that McCarthy perfectly captured his hapless, screamy essence.

He hated the excesses of the privileged and thoroughly enjoyed making them targets.

"I learned early in the game that some of the kids could beat me up, but I found that I could make a remark that would keep them crying in their pillows for the next three days."

and creator of National Lampoon's 'The Vietnamese Baby Book', which included some of the darkest humor imaginable ('Baby's First Wound', baby's handprint - missing fingers).

I understand that he was a comic genius, but also had a very nasty personalty and temper.

Reading 'The Little Engine That Died' to a 14-year old Jodie Foster:

His actual personality was one of charm, grace, and great kindness to those around him. He could be every bit as kind as he was witty.

Little Screwworms from outer space have invaded the occupants of the White House, and eaten half their brains. That is what is really going on, I tell you. I've seen this on TV!!! And now they are unhappy when someone makes fun of them!!!
