Group behind Women's March to launch strike

The group behind the Women’s March on Washington in protest of Donald Trump's presidency announced plans for a strike.

In social media posts, the Women’s March group announced a “General Strike: A day without a woman.”

The date and other details about the strike were not immediately clear.

Your advice is well taken. Perhaps Linda should have followed it when it could have made a genuine difference.

I was at the March on Washington and have attended organizational meetings for Women's March Florida. Not participating because you don't care for one of the organizers doesn't help anyone - and smacks of people who voted 3rd party because our candidate wasn't pure enough.

She is but one of many people who organized the March. I refuse to throw out a!l the good this group can do because I do not agree with one organizer.

without Sarsour or at the very least stand up to her. Sarsour is in the process of making herself the face and voice of the Women's March movement rather than the representative of one of many perspectives. She is co-opting the movement for her own purposes and agenda rather than to unite in common cause. During the general election campaign, division served Sarsour's goals, so she used it. She showed in January that she is still willing not only to employ it, but also to impose it on others. Her doctrinaire approach is one of the reasons why Trump is president.

If hijab-apologist/Limousine Liberal Sarsour is trying to organize a march/General Strike specifically against Drumpf, the issue is about being against Drumpf. What difference is it when she organizes something, or if Steven Colbert or Amy Goodwin organizes something
Our voices are louder than hers; we can ignore her once she starts drifting off message and into her personal agenda.
She will fade into obscurity once more groups get organized and take over.
The 3rd parties and the radicals have hijacked more mainstream protests before (Most recently, Free Mumia and PLO activists at Gay Rights/anti-Prop 8 marches come to mind); let them have a taste of their own "medicine".
If she's the one providing a bucket of water when there's a drought and the plants need desperately watering, will you just wait until the next person with a bucket shows up?

to be used in times of war. We have to wait a couple weeks when we go to war with Iran.

...there is NO energy in the US behind General Strikes, and this one will be no exception. Promoting one will only diminish the impact of the Marches by suggesting the movement is already sputtering out.

that day were mainstream. The March was positive and camera friendly. A general strike isolates. We are not an industrial workforce anymore.

Too many women would end up without a job. I think hounding our reps everywhere they go, and I mean everywhere, would be more effective. Don't give them a minutes peace. Let them hide in their offices like the little rats they are. Ring their phones off the hook so their aides don't have time to do anything except answer the phone.
