What about the people who might have to follow this guy's orders?
By Charles P. Pierce
Feb 6, 2017
Today, the president* went to McDill Air Force Base to chat with some of the members of the military of whom he is the commander-in-chief, god help the civilized world. His basic pitch to them is the same as his basic pitch to everyone these daysto wit, was that an awesome campaign or what?
Then it was time to discuss the terrorist threat.
Not a single one of the terrorists involved in the referenced attacks came from any of the seven countries named in his executive order. Neither were any of them five-month old babies who needed heart surgeries.
Got that? There are terrorist attacks happening and the media not only are not reporting them, they don't want to report them because reasons. There probably was a massive truck bombing right at the end of your street last night and it didn't even make the local evening news because the anchor team of Todd Coiffure and Kim Kimclone are secretly sympathetic to ISIS and kept the news from you. Before we go to Tony al-Baghdadi with tonight's weather, here's a word from the great folks down at Caliphate Trucks.
This is madness. Worse, this is madness presented as leadership to the people who may have to react and respond to actual acts of actual terrorism, and who have bigger problems with which to cope than whether or not the C-in-C's elevator goes all the way to the penthouse. I have absolutely no idea what would go through the mind of a rookie airman who hears this fantastical drivel and wonders how he has come under the command of a guy who seems to be channeling Alex Jones through the fillings in his teeth. It's every day now, and I can't even imagine what a critical mass of this craziness would look like, and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know.

(34,136 posts)As someone who has always had trouble understanding a New York accent, much of what Trump says is incomprehensible (even when I realize what words he attempt to enunciate). The poor transcribers have to try to do it quickly with the entire world critiquing their efforts.
On the other hand, most of the world is willing to believe any stupid mistake as totally belonging to Trump.

Edited to add: I'm still watching the clip and I just can't believe that the news media are talking like this! They're almost coming right out and saying that the President of the United States is either lying or delusional. Wow!

(28,941 posts)So, you go. Many, many commander's calls have taught you the art of sleeping with your eyes open. Among the gang is a designated listener; listener's hearing is just marginal from working the flight line or EOD. When whoever finally winds down, listener elbows the zoomer next to him/her and so forth down the line. Give the five clap applause, come to attention, leave. Depending upon the among of bs produced during 'speech', critique ranges from "meh" to "JHC on a fork lift, that sucked". Return to work.
If you haven't been to at least one of these, you haven't gotten the most out of your enlistment.

It's like he's trying to enflame them more and more---as if he's hoping they do come, because that would sure save and "vindicate" his presidency.
In fact, given Bannon's lust for war, I'm starting to worry about a black flag event occurring, that allows the power and media seizure that they seek.

(5,591 posts)What, outside of a horribly written, grade schooler sci fi comic book, is the reality of this insane man and the twilight zone world in which he and his f'ing anti- human political party exist??????
It just cannot. be. happening.
He has the mind and vocabulary of a dim witted goofball third grader who is the future personification of what will be spawned under a Betsy DeVos educational program.
He is a pathological LIAR with not one ounce of accountability for anything that spews forth from his ignorant mouth and is enabled by a barnyard of mutant freaks.
His third wife is a blatant plagiarist who doesn't live with him in the White House for fuck sake and sees the position of First Lady as a marketing tool to make a personal fortune, sueing a foreign press for defaming character she has yet to display.
His screwball capitalistic punk adult sons are screwing the taxpayers while amassing a conflict of interest fortune for their "no rules apply to me" father.
The Cretin has a verbal hard on for Putin. PUTIN!!!!! While he denigrates the morality of the nation that hasn't imprisoned his swarmy ass for bilious acts of what would normally, in a sane world, be treason.
And he Tweets juvenile messages of an illiterate playground bully full of insecure bat shit crazy rantings while personally reminding every audience he procures in person that the election was great and isn't he wonderful.
