WH list of terror attacks has several misspellings.

The White House misspelled San Bernardino, Calif., in its Monday evening list of terrorist attacks it says “have not received the media attention they deserved.”

The list calls the Dec. 2, 2015, mass shooting the “San Bernadino” attack before accurately stating that the “coordinated firearms attack” was perpetrated by “two US persons" who killed 14 people and wounded 21 others.

Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) criticized the spelling error late Monday.
“If the White House didn’t know how to spell San Bernardino they should’ve read one of thousands of heartbreaking articles remembering victims,” he tweeted.

Monday's list additionally features repeated misspellings of "attacker" and "attackers" as "attaker" and "attakers," respectively.

who say he is indeed functionally illiterate. I believe this includes his ghost writer for "The Art of the Deal." This is why he is so loathe to use a Tele-Prompter, and when he does he generally goes off script.

He receives his information--such as it is--through oral reports or on TV.

Generating and reading tweets is about the limit of his literary ability. Certainly, he seems entirely uncomfortable with the written word.

I know some folks who are indeed functionally illiterate, and they talk and write much as Trump does (but without all the underlying bigotry).

Trump is running an undisciplined and unprofessional White House. He doesn't care about details. He cares about appearances.

He also doesn't have the self-discipline to be accurate. He probably demanded this list be put out in a time frame that didn't provide time for accuracy and editing.

Speculation is that they really haven't wanted to show anything to anyone smart because they might catch on to what they are doing, and maybe leak it.

He probably wouldn't be happy with close scrutiny, either.

Notice, though, how the story has morphed from "the media didn't cover these stories at all" to "the media didn't cover these stories to the extent we thought they deserved." Does President Trump want to be America's Assignment Editor as well? Doesn't he have enough to do already? Judging by the job he's doing as president, I'd say he shouldn't really take on more responsibilities.

his deputy wrote a letter with input from the public servants in our department. They in turn had coordinated with others in the agency. That letter came back from the Deputy Minister's office a few times. Not from spelling mistakes but for more precise language. Because it was reflecting the Minister. Sure it took a week but that is how you do it right. This Trump stuff is just unprofessional. For sure the politicians and secretaries get to set the agenda. But for God's sake use the public service.

Or perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe that's passe with grammer and spell checkers.

As a techwriter, almost all the companies I worked for "back in the day" had an editor. (As a consultant, I'm stuck being my own editor. Fortunately, I have a couple friends willing to proof. I don't think I've ever caught all my own typos in a long doc.)

Point is that spelling should not be even an issue at such high levels of government. At that level the fine points of meaning should be taken care of.

that this level of incompetence is unheard of in the upper levels of any large organization.

Folks, this give you a behind-the-scenes look at Trump's actual abilities -- he has none. He cannot even recognize that an editor is needed. Hell, a typist would catch these sorts of errors without even slowing down. This means that the actual idiots Trump has hired cannot perform the simplest tasks at a sixth-grade level. This is your President.

My posts have more than there share of typos, but "attaker" couldn't get by any spell checker (I'm looking at the little red underline as I type this). "Bernadino" gets flagged to.

Even if they didn't have benefit of a spell checker -- using an old-school typewriter or something -- I think our government can afford a proofreader or two.

Perhaps they just couldn't see well enough in the dark cabinet room?

This little crap is just crap -- nothing compared to "the great undoing" in progress -- but it is telling. We know DT is an incompetent, narcissistic, psychopathic, idiot, but I figured staffers hired would at least be on top of the nuts and bolts stuff.

Silly me.
