A player could be forced to attend a White House ceremony if attendance were required under a contract that the player agreed to.

My guess is that teams wouldn't do it. They probably dislike the publicity about players skipping the ceremony, but they'd dislike the publicity about a public squabble over the issue even more. Still, if it were in the contract, it would be an enforceable obligation.

this may well be the finest-looking man I have ever seen EVER and I'm no spring chicken, see, and no I don't watch the Pats but I might have to rethink that now.

Because here in my dotage, I see no harm in falling, finally and for all time, deeply and truly, nay, obsessively in love with a man such as this fabulous young Mr. McCourty.

Oh damn, am I off-topic? I'd apologize but I'm too moony and giddy, y'know? My eyes are crossed suddenly. Can't catch my breath.

Many thanks for posting this pic, Cha! And Mr. McCourty, you frickin ROCK, in every possible way!!

raised her son right. The team will support him, he's co-captain! I'd like a quarter of the team not to show up personally. It would be unprecedented.

The more "unprecedented" reactions we hear the better. Unprecedented opposition from Congresss. Unprecedented number of people visiting Congressperson and Senator offices, calling, faxing, emailing. Unprecedented boycott of WH correspondents dinner...

We can hope! (and do bits to help it happen of course).

15. Did Tom Brady skip visit with Obama because he's mad at the White House?

When the New England Patriots took a visit to the White House on April 23 to celebrate the team's Super Bowl win, there was one notable absence: Tom Brady.

According to the Patriots, Brady skipped out on the White House visit because he had a previously planned "family commitment."

As it turns out though, Brady wasn't with his family when the Patriots went to Washington DC on the morning of April 23. According to ESPN.com, the Patriots quarterback was actually at Gillette Stadium getting some stretching in while the rest of the team was visiting with Obama.

Less than 24 hours later, Brady was at an Apple Store in New York City checking out the company's new Apple watch.
