My grandmother and grandfather were both cremated and interred (buried in the ground- not in a wall or anything) at the columbarium at my church. There are plaques on the wall for each.

a few more of us to be buried there in urns. Like about 5 more places. Doubt there will be room on the stone for all of our names.

In Texas one is only required to be buried in a body bag. My family is being allowed to use more of the purchased plot for two is now being allowed to accompany 4 cremations.

It is in a small township cemetery in very rural Michigan. My family put a small headstone there, to mark it. The plot was owned by another family member. It was all legal.

Generally, cremains can be put anywhere. They are just ashes. To bury them in a cemetery one probably needs to own the plot.

Makes for cheaper burial plots, so easier to keep family together in historic graveyards.

as someone who plans to be cremated (unless they allow funeral pyres then), was that the wish of the deceased? Half of my reasoning is the expense of funerals/burials.

My grandfather was cremated, and half his ashes were buried in PA.

The other half will be going to IA to be buried next to his parents.
