To him, being able to order troops to move at his disposal without the need for any deep planning or contemplation a huge power trip for him. Life and death decisions are trivialities to him. The President has new "toys" and goddammit, he wants to test them out.

I don't think anyone should mistake Trump's lack of desire to understand or involve himself in fine policy decisions or technicalities as him having a lack of interest in holding ultimate power and say in things.
