We are all philosophers now, spending time grappling with the inconceivable

At least that is how I seem to be spending hours each day since the election - trying to understand what makes Trump - his cabal - his supporters - tick. Grappling with how the two world views (we on the left empathetic, encompassing, looking forward, understanding the value of change, of science, of progress)...(they fearful, controllable, attracted to wealth and power and bluster and - lies! oh, the lies).

It is literally impossible to make sense of it. The gulf has been growing for decades - it now seems completely unbridgeable.

All that we are taught growing up - treating others as we wish to be treated, showing mutual respect for all, that truth is what is most important, that logic and truth will triumph over lies, that there is nothing more important than freedom - and free will - all of it is being turned on its head by our illegitimate president and his group of chicken shit enablers.

I remember taking philosophy in college - one of the intro courses - and thinking of how people could spend so much time grappling with the questions of our existence - with no clear cut conclusions. It is all about frame of references.

And here we are, all of us, coming to terms that nearly half of the country has no idea of how we see the world - or we, them.

apparent sadly....philosophy in this new era is a dying art and yet never more important in regards to our future and our survival in that future in my personal opinion.....it helps clear out unimportant clutter....

also birdwatching, kayaking - it feels both essential, and at times, a bit depressing. What I come down to is really we need to take care of ourselves - even before we can take care of others (meaning we have to be in a good place mentally to share positive energy). We get one shot at this - the tragic part is that under Trump (and any republican administration), so many get cheated out of that shot.

Diversity - is actually exciting. It is daily, incremental change and variety - keeps us vital, thinking, alive.

Now you have me going off into my weird brain spaces!

have a great day
