"Pump and dump" is a scheme that attempts to boost the price of a stock through recommendations based on false or exaggerated statements. Trump did the opposite: he tried to harm Nordstrom's by criticising them for not selling Ivanka's crappy lines (which weren't selling). The stock dipped but then quickly recovered. Are you suggesting that Trump tweeted his insult then bought Nordstrom stock after it dipped, then sold it when the stock bounced back? I don't think he had anything like that in mind; he just wanted to cause trouble for them.

Perhaps. He opens himself up to that charge. Maybe he tipped off a few of his pals.

He shoots from the hip without thinking anything through. Nordstrom's dropped Ivanka's line and they had to be punished. It's all personal for him.
