Why does Trump have so much unfettered free time available?

He's always on TV, chatting it up with all these small special interest groups that would probably be relegated to a brief meeting with lower level staff, if seen at all, in any other administration. Past presidents have always operated in the stratosphere, far removed from routine business, they were dealing with major national problems and international crises. I remember Obama frequently mentioned the enormous amount of time he spent engaged in reviewing the complex information available only to him.

Not Trump, he's staging photo ops, schmoozing with wellwishers, hobnobbing with fellow billionaires, glad handing his fawning sycophants, campaigning against the Democrats, attacking the judicial system, bashing protesters and targeting his opponents as "enemies". He seems to have plenty of spare time to peruse interior decorating catalogs, binge watch TV, and bully his incompetent staff. When does he do any of the weighty, presidential work we saw from Obama? Does Trump do anything that could be termed presidential, is he engaged in the difficult work that come with the office he now holds, or are those tasks now channelled through Pence, Bannon, and whatever unfortunate staffer that is within shouting distance?

that he would essentially be a real "co-President" and handle a lot of stuff? I guess that between Pence and Bannon, a lot of things are already covered.

Feb 2017

1. he doesn't sleep

- possibly as one of the many side effects of Propecia
- he is over 70... and apparently watches a lot of TV, both of which lead to sleeplessness
- he is likely impotent (another side effect of Propecia)

2. He doesn't seem to be able to read

3. Bannon and Pence seem to handle most decision-making duties at the West Wing

4. He really has no interest in actually being President.

Truly, he doesn't. He thinks that all he has to do is issue an Executive Order now and then and he's good. He doesn't realize that Presidents are constantly in meetings with people, working on advancing projects and handling problems.

The problem is that he has absolutely nobody on his West Wing staff that has a clue about White House operations and schedules. Nobody has told him he needs to be working on stuff, so he doesn't work on stuff.

He's not preparing a budget proposal. He's not scheduling diplomatic visits. He's not planning upcoming events that need the President's attention.

He's not arranging for legislative liason meetings or anything like that.

Basically, he has no real plans for the daily responsibilities of a President. He thinks his is a part-time job, dealing with a few issues, and doesn't realize that he is supposed to be thinking strategically on all sorts of things.

What he doesn't know will hurt us all.

What deeply worries me is that for everything he's not doing, for everything he isn't aware of, he will shortly reach the tipping point where it will be impossible for him to ever catch up. Every day his lack of understanding and the depth of missed knowledge continues to grow, and these are the at the core of what any leader needs to act responsibly in a moment of crisis. That time is coming, and as thin skinned, hotheaded, incompetent and recklessly impulsive as Trump is, the consequences will be unimaginable.

Have the right-wingers whom used to hit the fainting coaches whenever President Obama occasionally issued an EO went into total cardiac arrest yet? Do the Republicans in Congress feel irrelevant yet? This was supposed to be their show and Trump is just kicking back at his desk and issuing EOs like he's King or Putin or something?

He is delegating everything and just signing whatever he's handed - which is how Steve Bannon got on the NSC and how Oliver North started a whole war without Reagan noticing.

Since no one's actually done anything yet - installing the monsters in Trump's cabinet took time - Trump has had plenty of time to go on TV.

I recall seeing a video clip where Trump boasted about how he'll surround himself with the "best people, blah blah." When asked what he'd be doing, specifically, he said "I'll be busy making America great again." (That's pretty close to verbatim.)

So his loafing, posing, schmoozing and occasional ranting, all on the taxpayer dollar, comes as no surprise.
