Rumors are that it's not just the lights in the West Wing that Trump staffers haven't figured out. Many are saying that they also haven't figured out how to turn the heat on in that drafty old building. So, they've resorted to huddling around an impromptu campfire in the Rotunda to keep warm as they plot their next moves well into the night. Wood from various pieces of old furniture burns pretty well, it seems. At least, Trump can get a cell signal in there to do his tweeting and his phone's backlight provides some cold comfort. They haven't figured out the White House wi-fi either, it seems.
Now, they could have asked some of the maintenance folks who are civil service employees how to get some heat, but that would be admitting that they can't figure it out, and they're reluctant to take advice from those employees for various other reasons. Those civil service employees in the White House aren't like Trump and his staff in some ways.
So, sing a campfire song, boys and girls, and tell a scary story or two. Try a drum circle, too. Soon, it will be daytime again and you can resume pretending that you know what you're doing. The nights are getting shorter, and soon it will be Spring.

(146,262 posts)I sometimes post a satirical post I wrote myself. If there's any question about people understanding that it's satire, I make it clear. In this case, the idea that someone would build a campfire in the White House rotunda is so unlikely that I didn't feel it necessary to identify the post as satire.
