It's supposed to be a bad one! Stay safe and off the roads if you can!
What are you planning to do if you aren't going to work tomorrow?

(63,221 posts)unless we absolutely had to leave. It's not just the snow, but the wind and the ice from it being so wet today and the sudden drop in temperature. If you do go out, be careful. It's going to be treacherous out there!

(But the timing of the storm makes a closing likely unless it really fizzles.)

(4,105 posts)Told my employees to stay home tomorrow. There are a handful of people who live within a couple of subway stops from the office, and they've volunteered to staff the office, but they can close it down anytime. We'll do a couple of conference calls for necessary business, but it's as much of a snow day as we can make it.

(2,340 posts)This is the first big storm since I retired - so it's the first time I can not stress. I used to work for the County and was required to go to work even if schools were closed...even if the State declared a snow emergency. I worked in a Social Services department, but was still considered an "essential employee" - go figure.
We've got eggs, bread, milk, coffee half and half, apples, bananas etc and plenty of toilet paper and kitty litter.
Also stocked up on wine and vodka. The snow blower is poised at the beginning of our walk and life is beautiful!

(63,221 posts)I find that the hardest part of my day is just getting out of bed, getting in the shower, grooming and getting into work. Once I am there I'm fine.
If I can avoid all that, it's easy! Nothing better than rolling over, staying in your pajamas and just turning on the computer! No commute! Although my commute is pretty easy, still nothing is better than not having to leave the apartment at all!
Dorian Gray
(13,469 posts)but it's so easy to be distracted. Plus, I take my daughter to school in the mornings, so I have to get up early, get dressed groom myself (but not too much... I don't give myself a dress code...). The perks are making my own schedule and the ability to go sledding in Prospect Park on snow days with our daughter!

(1,045 posts)We're expected to get 8-12 inches. Bad mom hasn't gotten the kiddos snowpants this year so I'm trying to summon energy to go to Walmart tonight...Probably not gonna happen. My job is probably going to let us non-clinical staff utilize vacation time so I probably won't go in.
I'm gonna study, cook, play games with the fam and sleep. I love snowstorms when I can't leave the house.
Stay safe!

We could get a foot of snow and wind gusts of 50 mph. The general manager where I work said the reason we're staying open is that since they have to pay us no matter what, she doesn't have an incentive to close.
I live about a half mile away--not too far--but I am filled with anxiety about walking back home through a foot of snow and gale force winds.

My kid's at my parents house, school is cancelled, and I'm hitching a ride to work with a guy that owns a Grand Cherokee. I'm not sure my car will make it up the hills to my house!
