President as media critic: Trump hits CNN host Chris Cuomo for not asking a question he actually askedTrump said Cuomo didn't ask Sen. Blumenthal about his history in Vietnam. That was the first question

President Trump expressed unhappiness Thursday morning that Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., told CNNs Chris Cuomo that Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch had called Trumps attacks on the judiciary disheartening. So the chief executive took to Twitter, and tried to attack his punching bag. But the punching bag punched back.

Had the president actually been paying attention while watching the interview, he might have noticed that Blumenthals wartime record was the subject of the first question:

(9,350 posts)That Trump tweet was not for the informed in America. That tweet was for his supporters who will take what he says at face value and pass it along to everyone they know. Trump knew full well Cuomo has asked Blumenthal about having claimed he had been deployed to Vietnam. Trump also understands that many of his supporters do not like CNN and do not watch CNN. So, he knows that there is little chance that they will ever be told that Trump lied about CNN. He also knows that even if they are told Trump lied about CNN they will not believe what they are being told. It is very possible that one could show a Trump supporter a clip of Cuomo asking Blumenthal about his Vietnam claim and the trump supporter would still say Trump did not lie.
However, I do not see why Cuomo needed to ask Blumenthal about having claimed he had been deployed to Vietnam. So, Blumenthal, more than ten years ago, misspoke/lied about having been deployed to Vietnam. What does that have to do with anything going on today? This is not a new story. This story came out during Blumenthal's run for Senate in Connecticut. It seems this story is about eight years old. When the story came out Blumenthal acknowledge his wrongdoing and apologized. There was no need to bring up this story again just because Trump decided to use the story to attack Blumenthal.
