For the Frankenstein that the Republican Party was becoming, only when the monster was out of control did Will have second thoughts.

I don't need to listen to people I already agree with, it's those who can rationally explain what I oppose who are the most valuable to me. He used to be that, before he turned into a rabid Obama hater.

So he and I have at least that in common. He's a pompous old fart but he's been right on where El Pendejo is concerned.

I won't forget he used to suck up to his bosses and attacked O at every turn.

Just because he doesn't like 45, won't make me forget the filth that came out of his mouth.

I know his true colors and I won't be fooled by him.

Recently, Barack Obama — a Demosthenes determined to elevate our politics from coarseness to elegance; a Pericles sent to ameliorate our rhetorical impoverishment — spoke at the University of Michigan. He came to that very friendly venue — in 2012, he received 67 percent of the vote in Ann Arbor’s county — after visiting a local sandwich shop, where a muse must have whispered in the presidential ear. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) had recently released his budget, so Obama expressed his disapproval by calling it, for the benefit of his academic audience, a “meanwich” and a “stinkburger.”

Try to imagine Franklin Roosevelt or Dwight Eisenhower or John Kennedy or Ronald Reagan talking like that. It is unimaginable that those grown-ups would resort to japes that fourth-graders would not consider sufficiently clever for use on a playground.

palpable, I don't believe he vote for him. I think its more likely he left it blank. Which is reprehensible in itself, and everyone who did that bears responsibility for the asshole, but we need to keep our enemies closer, especially those who will say the things we want them to say, and who will be listened to by people who won't listen to us.

He's always been a bit intellectual and cerebral about his conservatism, and never really joined in the "I hate liberals" bullshit.

If we could drag the Repub party back to the center right, we could actually deal with them. Now? Not so much.
