of protests.
Just sets the context wrong. wrong wrong!

(1,752 posts)side say we should be "more like the tea party" in their aggressive singlemindedness I have to take issue with that as well - the liberal/left has a long proud history of resistance and protest of our own.

(16,949 posts)The context is the tea party was effective. They struck fear in the hearts of repubs and forced them to move to the right. I think this is a reminder to the repubs, who can say what they want, that those tactics have proven to be effective in the past. I don't like anything the tea party stood for but their tactics worked. I don't see it as minimizing what we are doing but acknowledging that there is every reason to think it will be effective.

(82,849 posts)Outfits like Americans for Prosperity (funded by the Koch boys) chartered buses, printed signs, and created the mobs for the Tea Baggers. Media outlets like Fox, CNBC, and the Wall Street Journal lent the Tea Baggers instant credibility with their favorable and respectful coverage, and papered over the weaknesses in their arguments. See any heavy hitters doing that for us?

(26,173 posts)I remember the massive anti-war marches I participated in, during the bush administration, where we got little, if any, coverage, but a gathering of a few dozen tea partiers wearing ridiculous, ill fitting costumes was featured on all of the evening news shows.
