She left the Bonwit Teller site in NYC and flew to Florida to do a turn with Mrs. Abe.

(21,841 posts)There is absolutely nothing gracious in her behavior. She looks like she is showing the hired help around the joint.

(14,914 posts)to do some damage control today. That looks like a nice place to visit if I ever go to Delray Beach, but does anyone really think that Mrs. Abe came all the way from Japan to see a "Japanese Garden"? I hear they have some pretty nice Japanese gardens in Japan.... Maybe she'd enjoy seeing something more uniquely American.

(10,130 posts)my native co-workers often took me to places they thought would be familiar to Americans: I've had some unusual takes on American-style pizza. I'd just smile and say thank you. But doesn't the White House have a social secretary whose job it is to make discreet inquiries with her/his counterparts as to what would be appropriate? Or is that one of the positions that's still not filled, since a Trump can't be expected to care about anyone else.
On a positive note, the outfit Melania was wearing was the least bad-looking thing I've seen her in- I can almost see Michelle Obama wearing it! Someone does need to tell her to brush her hair, though: I know it takes hours to achieve that casual tousled effect, but she's not on the runway anymore. </end shallowcattyremarks>

(12,904 posts)They send gardeners here every year to tend the lovely garden they built on the grounds of our municipal building.
The garden is so pretty when we get about 4 inches of snow.

No comment on Melanie's "too cool for school" face, though.

(40,416 posts)Oh. That's right, geishas have fans, don't they.
How come Malaria didn't get the rest of the outfit? Didn't she want Ms. Abe to feel at home?
Or maybe the fan alone was sufficient.

(36,926 posts)Guess it has to do with inner security. Mrs. Abe knows she is beautiful and loved and is, therefore, not constantly seeking reassurance.

(86,332 posts)every moment she has to spend in the same state as her hubby. I would avoid my abuser too... except she submitted to this kind of slavery for a golden tower. I still think she's a spy. Come to think about it, if that Russian spy is there too, maybe she's there to receive her paycheck from Pooty and pass on notes. I don't trust her any more than her subhuman spouse. When you sell your soul you end up doing all kinds of awful things to keep what luxuries you can grab.

(153,113 posts)I cannot imagine being with Donald Fucking Trump, and I think she genuinely likes Barack and Michelle
but she did indeed sell her soul for money and luxuries; karma in this case is a real bee-yatch

(86,332 posts)she sold out for. I don't wish the abuse on her but she did sell out for it and isn't walking away... which makes me think she's spy.

(153,113 posts)DOES she feel free to leave? She exhibits very much the behavior of someone in duress; perhaps she has been threatened.

(86,332 posts)It's a hard choice to leave an abusive situation when threatened and scary. Been there, done that with family and marriage, I had to leave before they killed me, literally. Maybe it's more than just the cheato who has threatened her. He certainly knows how to make her feel like shit after seeing that clip of them at the swearing* ceremony.
* I call it that as I don't see that day, 1/20, as having been legitimate but it sure made me swear a lot!

(14,167 posts)She clearly didn't want this life. I think she tried to use Donald's occupation of the Presidency to separate herself from him. However, as they both are finding out -- a First Lady is necessary and the Ivanka thing just looks too creepy.
People say don't feel sorry for her and that she made her bed, which is true. But I'm certain he is abusive. There are several candid moments that have been caught between the two of them where he has a horrid sneer on his face and she looks terrified. I believe he was abusive to her. Remember, Ivana accused him of rape.
I don't think she likes or supports the Donald at all. Her face actually showed a smile and some semblance of kindness when she met the Obamas. She never looks at the Donald that way -- only her son.
