Crowd at Tennessee town hall erupts when this teacher explained the real problem with ACA repeal

Rep. Diane Black took part in an Affordable Care Act town hall in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Like Republicans nationwide, the congresswoman from Tennessee met with angry constituents who wholly reject the Republican plan to repeal the ACA instead of fixing parts that need work. Jessi Bohon, a 35-year-old teacher, prompted raucous applause with her question. Watch below and see Rep. Black’s unsatisfactory answer.

Black responded that Obamacare's individual mandate -- which requires everyone to have health insurance or pay a penalty -- still allowed millions, including many young and healthy people, to be without coverage.

"About 20 million people did actually come into the program who were uninsured," Black said. "You don't want to hurt one group of people to help the another. We can help both groups at the same time."

Bohon shot back: "How many of those people were in states where they played a political game with people's lives?"
Black appeared flustered, and declined to continue. "I'm going to pass this one," she said.

It took a while for freshman Rep. Diane Black, 60, to get to the United States Congress and begin fighting against tax increases. But by the time she did, the Tennessee Republican had a lot of money to fight for. According to recently disclosed financial information, Black has a net worth between $16 million and $74 million and may be the richest new member of the House of Representatives. The Center for Responsive Politics estimates that her net worth in 2009 was $49 million.

knew as much as this one did.

She did great! Thanks for your quesition and comments!

The real danger here, is that NO ONE knows what they are cooking up behind closed doors and will suddenly spring on the nation as a fully passed law by way of fast tracking it. And grabberman will sign anything.

I am so glad people are showing up to town halls and talking about it. More. More.

The principled challenge from a white southern Christian woman, calling on people of good faith to "pull up" the less fortunate, was very effective. I think this young teacher would make a great Tennessee Congressional rep.

cut from the same disgusting mold as Marsha Blackburn. They're both prime examples of what's wrong with Tennessee politics.
