it'd used a different "what if." After all, a "defense establishment" is not in charge of the laissez-faire Kochtopus and similar forces, isn't in charge of the religious right's Christian reconstruction movement, isn't in charge of, or even leading, the urge to fascism also sweeping the right, and certainly isn't in charge of even President Bonespurs, much less the rest of our government.
We have real, immediate monsters under our beds.
