The touching letter Hillary Clinton sent this lifelong Republican protesting Donald Trump

Joanne Barr, 54, has never wanted attention. She has only ever wanted a quiet life, and for a long time, what she had in Williamsport, a mountainous town in Central Pennsylvania, was just that. She never thought there would be a time when people would know her story. But then again, she never thought Donald Trump would be president, and when that happened, everything changed.

Last month, Barr, a lifelong Republican, went to the Women’s March on Washington, allowed The Washington Post to accompany her and returned to Williamsport, where she found a mailbox that was soon filling with letters from all over the country and world. “So much mail,” she said. “And for someone who doesn’t want to be in the spotlight. It’s been overwhelming, but I didn’t realize there were so many wonderful, nice people.”

One day late last month, she went to the mailbox again and collected more letters, one of which bore a New York address. Thinking it was just another letter like the others, she absent-mindedly opened it. Then she saw the letterhead: Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“While I know that we are disappointed and heartbroken by the outcome of the election, I am heartened to know that the experience of this campaign has been empowering for you,” the letter read. ” … Never forget that you are powerful and valuable, and that one person can make a difference.”

This is such a great story, but it's hard to overlook the fact that we almost had her as our President.

What a sad man we have as president.

freebies. Is Joanne Barr's story one I might already know? Her name doesn't sound familiar to me at all. I would love to have read the rest of the story.

Perhaps I'll get a little more of it if I watch this thread.

I usually use Firefox, but Explorer and Chrome are installed on my computer, too.

Once those are used up, I will go in and delete cookies and history from all three at once.

that I am still a rule follower. Growing up with a strict, abusive father I always tried to do everything exactly as I was told. I've been trying to break the habit for years and this is an example of my failing. But a learning experience. I know about switching browsers and about deleting history and cookies. I just never would have thought to do them all. Honestly, if I had the money right now I would have just paid for an online subscription and not said a word. Lol. Thank you for the input.

... of grace under fire - and has been for decades.

Thanks to those who refused to vote because they didn't "like" the candidates, those who wrote-in another politician's name on their ballot in order to "make a statement" about their candidate-of-choice not having won the nomination, those who voted for Jill Stein because they wanted to "send a message" to the Dem Party, we now have a "president" who goes ballistic over SNL sketches.

Good thinkin', people. It's working out really, really well, isn't it?

38. Those people will rush to vote for the Democrat
Mon Feb 13, 2017, 04:47 PM

In 2020, then immediately insist their issues are the only legitimate issues once that Democrat wins the Presidency and hurt that Presiden't capacity to lead by not voting in midterm elections, they never seem to learn - Clinton to Bush because Gore didn't "win" their precious vote, then all hell breaks loose for 8 years until President Obama is elected to get the nation on a sound footing - then the "no difference" fools come out of the woodwork again to help elect Trump. A Democratic President will straighten things out from 2021-2029, only to have the "no difference" fools make things difficult in midterms, then help to elect another republican President in 2028, rinse and repeat. When will those people realize that if they keep helping to elect republican Presidents to set us back 20 years, that only 8 years for a Democrat that gets little Congressional help won't be adequate to generate sustained progress?
