I'm in. A bit older than I would hope, and certainly not considered macho, but he is killing it right now. A Wellstone Democrat, my kind of Democrat.

(13,461 posts)And Ronald Reagan was an actor.
But their fake reality businessman is a traitor.

(14,961 posts)I have loved him since watching him on SNL when I was a kid. It would be an honor to call him my president.

(5,914 posts)I think he and Warren are actually our two smartest Senators. They know all the questions to ask, and they ask them.
And you know any guy who can draw a complete map of the United States in MINUTES from MEMORY loves this country and has his whole life.

(1,510 posts)He could destroy 45 in a campaign by unleashing the Al Franken of old. To loosely paraphrase Truman, given a choice between an actual entertainer and a shitty reality tv star, the American people will vote for the real entertainer every time,

Tapper (I think) asked him if he was going to run for President because he's good enough, he's smart enough, and doggone it people like him. Franken kept a straight face through it then chuckled.
The best Stuart Smalley segment was with Michael Jordan.

(3,569 posts)One NYE at Kaiser Center, his car was blocking mine all night after the show. At dawn he bounded up, a bunch of us were sitting on our cars waiting for him, because he blocked the whole "secret" parking lot. "He said, I'm Al Franken, did I hold you all up?"
I never parked there again.A secret is lost when Al Franken knows about it.
I would LOVE it if the entire Franken and Davis skits before and during the Wafild and Radio City 82 runs were released. Parts are on the CD from those shows, but not the entire skits. Hilarious stuff, Jerry's Kids. Bowling! Funny funny.

(56,828 posts)His "Lying Liars" book many years ago gave me hope in the world of George W Bush and led me to find DU and Daily Kos. He's very smart and funny.
However, as I've said countless times on here the past few months, the candidate with more charisma wins every time. While Franken is funny when prepared, is he a charismatic presence on the stage? He sometimes seems to stumble and mumble a bit when speaking off the cuff, which would kill him vs Trump in a debate.
