Donald Trump's disapproval rating among Americans is skyrocketing.
Trump's 55% disapproval level in Gallup polling already equals the worst of Obama's Presidency which occurred in Nov 2014. Trump's net -15% approval (55% disapproval vs 40% approval) is worse than Obama ever had. Obama's worst was -12% in Nov 2014 https://goo.gl/csfj4U

(12,448 posts)are now acting all surprised and upset because he is doing exactly what he said he'd do but they weren't paying attention. then there are those who are angry because he isn't going far enough with his promises (the wall, not allowing ANY Muslims into the country).
They're a confused, angry bunch.

(1,606 posts)LOL yeah right
What a shock, he is an incompetent narcissistic nincompoop surrounded by equally inept and corrupt sycophants.
Wow, didn't see that coming! We thought he was gonna "shock us all and change the system!"

is that Trump is failing, not becuase he is incompetent, but that because his staff and the Republican party, have failed him. They didn't properly explain how government works, didn't explain what he was signing, etc. I've heard it from enough sources that I'm pretty sure that's the save-face line du jour.
Case in point:

(12,448 posts)People HAVE tried to explain details to him; he's not interested. He yawned through intelligence briefings as president elect when he bothered to attend them, and there's no indication that he has any interest in what the intelligence community has to say TO THIS DAY. Or anyone else, for that matter. He's very clearly uninterested in government or governing, except on HIS terms.
Ruddy may be right about Priebus; I'm certainly not a fan, and it's very possible that he doesn't have the guts to try to explain things to someone who ignores everything that contradicts the voices in his head.
I know it's their current line, because they're still trying to deal with a maniac and they just don't know how.

(34,055 posts)seem to have settled on the explanation that Trump is still the best thing since sliced bread - but the folks around him are just massive failures.
I've seen that general commentary on three separate issues from at least three relatively independent sources.

(297,026 posts)fuck up he's doing.
I was at a store the other day and heard these two women talking about him.. one I knew had voted for him. The other one said.. ".. trump is pissing everyone off.." and the trump voter did not disagree.
She was mad about the Dakota Pipeline. More evidence of people not knowing wtf they were getting.
Thank you, Steven

(297,026 posts)When I heard her talking before the election about him.. she was saying.. at least he's not as bad as Hillary.
There was mass brainwashing going on. And you're right he did show us who he was but I've seen reports of so many who didn't think he was serious or they're just low information voters and only heard soundbites they related to.

The public is so unbelieveably stupid that now we have a Russian plant in the WH who appointed Putin's buddy Tills to Sec of State so he could OK any oil deals Exxon wants. He'll get those santions lifted in no time.
Meanwhile Bannon and Alex Dugin plot the end of liberalism and the threat America poses to them in that regard.

(11,085 posts)Maybe Nixon right before he resigned in disgrace? 66% disapproval vs. 24% approval on 8/5/74 according to Gallup polls.

(64,951 posts)The polling methodology was nothing close to today as the number of people who could be reached for opinion was far less representative. Whole swatch of the country, and predominantly rural and black, did not have a phone, did not live near a town with a major metro paper, and were completely left out the sample set. It is not reasonable to go back beyond the early 70's to compare polling data.

(3,424 posts)I believe more than anything most of his supporters were in a racist frenzy and were blinded and uninterested in anything but his hateful things he said over and over he was going to do to people of color. Every group he demonized were non white.
And that is not just uneducated people. There are people from all walks of life who voted for him. Racism runs deep all over this country.
And of course, there are the wealthy who benefit.
Now, some of his cult members are finding out he is raining his sh!t on all. Not just "those " people.

(3,424 posts)And I do think sexism played a big part in this also.
But, In my opinion racism was what started the ball rolling. And many of these racist women do think it's different for them. And many of them will follow along with their menfolk no matter what.
I'm not speaking badly about most white women. I'm a white woman myself and love all the women and men who are resisting this horror.

(5,730 posts)other groups, regardless of race, including whites, were used to work his ignorant bigoted followers into a frenzy.
Add the Comey factor, Russian factor, fake news (a woman I know told me she had proof Hillary had murdered 22 people), religious discrimination, Hillary Haters whose hate runs deep back through 30 years, voter suppression, and many other factors, and if just 10 factors shaved off 1/2 point, in the right places, Repubs win.

Alice11111
(5,730 posts)Ignorant bigoted followers will believe that everthing that is happening is proof that the liberal and MS media are out to get him. The turning point may come, if it does, when the house and Senate members fear election reprisals. As long as their base is his fired up base, they will support him. Otherwise, if some of these things can get into the court system, there may be hope. Also, he continues to add to the list of people he offends. However, then, like Ted Cruz, they come groveling back, if they are afraid of reelection concerns.
