Hillary said half of Trump supporters are redeemable, the other half are irretrievably lost.

If his approval rating is 40% that means his floor is 20%. That sounds about right. I suspect if they polled Germans in the Spring of 1945 there were a few who hadn't yet given up the ghost.

1. We need to stop worrying about people who voted for Trump...

The ones who were reachable have come to the conclusion on their own through his reprehensible actions.

We need to start engaging the 40% of eligible voters who sat the election out and do most elections.

At least among my circles I'm finding the remorse of non-voters is proving more profound and susceptible to influence than the Trump voters who are remorseful. Even when admitting they are disappointed in Trumps actions, they still can't help but pull out the "yeah but the Democrats too....." card.

...I just worry that as a party, our politicians, and leaders, and strategists spend too much time focusing on people they will never win over or who would be harder to win over than someone who doesn't like what the Republicans stand for but is open to something new.

But yes, if we can help our friends and family see the light then we should. But strategically as a party it has been our tactic for decades at this point and it is getting us nowhere.

4. I have sort of lost faith in those who have not in the past bothered to vote

I mean every 4 years we talk about how many people don't vote, and it's true. And if those people showed up they could sway the election. But . . . they never actually show up.

He is missing out on staged events. Every time Trump reacts by twitter he betrays his illness he does better when he controls the venue with programmed fanatics.

7. The authoritarians are always here. Trump triggered them.

They want want structure, control, law/order. punishment.

If they are just 10% of the population that is over 30 million. If we only consider the adult authoritarians, there is still many.

Too much freedom and too much change and uncertainty triggers them.

We have had the condition of rapid change and uncertainty in a number of areas.

Trump capitalized on their anxiety and dis-ease, gave them permission to be horrible in the election cycle. When he took his "victory lap" rally tour, he told them they were wonderful when they were so horrible then but now they could tone it down a bit.

They like that he is in control of them. They want to follow a strong leader. They like being told what to do and what their place is in the pecking order-just so long as they are not too close to the bottom. They don't mind being losers as long as their are bigger losers.

What is true or false doesn't matter to them. Facts don't matter. They don't care about jobs or making a lot of money, They just want to be better off than those beneath them

they are not interested in being nice or fair-that is for weaklings.

They want to express their themselves emotionally within a controlled environment.

They are Lions and Trump is their Lion Tamer.
