GOP Senate Intel Member: Exhaustive investigation into Trump-Russia connections needed following Flynn resignation
(CNN)Republican Sen. Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, on Tuesday called for an exhaustive investigation into connections between President Donald Trump and Russia and said the Intelligence Committee should immediately speak with former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
Flynn resigned Monday evening amid revelations that he misled Vice President Mike Pence about conversations he had in December with Russia's ambassador to the US about sanctions placed on Russia. Pence had defended Flynn on television and denied he discussed sanctions after initial reports of the conversations.
"I think everybody needs that investigation to happen," Blunt said on KTRS radio. "And the Senate Intelligence Committee, again that I serve on, has been given the principle responsibility to look into this, and I think that we should look into it exhaustively so that at the end of this process, nobody wonders whether there was a stone left unturned, and shouldn't reach conclusions before you have the information that you need to have to make those conclusions."

(28,270 posts)I was hoping some republicans would try to separate themselves from Putin's puppet.
If not because its the right thing to do then jump off of Comrade 45's ship as its sinking like the rats they are!
Works for the USA either way.

(7,286 posts)Me and a friend were discussing this. While Blunt is definitely acting in his own self interest, we are lucky enough to benefit from it. But make no mistake, Blunt and the entire GOPee are like Janice From Accounting: They just don't give a fuck!

(127,308 posts)that "impeachment" starts in the House, so the Senate can have hearings out the wazoo (most likely "closed door" ones) and as long as the House sits tight and does nothing while the Senate side-show goes on in private, the GOP can say "See? We 'investigated'. Nothing to see here. Move along". And then they can drop the matter.

(127,308 posts)But we are literally right on the precipice of many people making a simple decision on how and when to act. I.e., they really want to sweep this under the rug but if they do so, it becomes the "cover up" in the future. And if they go for it now, they have to do it in such a way to minimize damage to themselves, which will be difficult.
The current narrative of purported "lies" told to Pence is to try to buffer him from the fallout in case Drumpf goes down. However many believe he was just as involved - if not more involved than Drumpf given Drumpf's penchant for not wanting to be "bogged down in details".

PSYOPS or Psychological Operations: Planned operations to convey selected information and indicators to foreign audiences to influence their emotions, motives, objective reasoning, and ultimately the behavior of foreign governments, organizations, groups, and individuals -
Only problem with this definition - we need to change FOREIGN audiences to AMERICAN audiences...
