Trump, GOP lawmakers eye 'illegal' leaks in wake of Flynn resignation

In the wake of Michael Flynn’s resignation as national security adviser, President Trump and Republican allies on Capitol Hill are turning their attention to the potentially “illegal” leaks that revealed Flynn's politically fatal discussions with a Russian diplomat and other sensitive details from inside the administration.

Fox News first reported Monday night that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., wants the FBI to conduct an assessment of recent media leaks.

The president, after accepting Flynn’s resignation overnight, tweeted Tuesday morning that, “The real story here is why are there so many illegal leaks coming out of Washington?”

Flynn echoed that point. Asked Tuesday morning whether the leaks were targeted, coordinated and possibly a violation of the law, Flynn told Fox News: “Yes, yes and yes.”

Yes I know this is a Fux Noise article. Still it's telling that the Republicans are in CYA mode.

If that's all they've got they need to go back to the drawing board and dig deeper.

Remember when Candidate Trump was all in favor of leaks and hacks and exposure of e-mails? Candidate Trump gleefully noted how much those leaks improved the transparency of the Democratic National Committee. Oh my, it was going to be so different if Trump won the presidency! A Trump administration was going to be so transparent you'd think it was made of cellophane or something.

But, as always, that was then and this is now. Leaks are now horrible, rotten, no-good, nasty things that hurt our nation's security by showing the world what a bunch of stumblebums, mountebanks, and traitors have succeeded to the White House. FUDT.

Silly me! And here I thought they and their actions were the problem. But, no! It's that people are telling on them that is the problem.

Kind of like crimes aren't the problem, evidence is! Stop looking for evidence and there is no crime.

Lying isn't a problem, being called out for lying is.

Alternative facts aren't the problem, actual facts are.

It's just so simple!

With scandals erupting everywhere, investigations, a relentless press, Flynn's ouster, and the sinking polls, Trump is in survival mode and now it's survival of the fittest with every man for himself.
