Trump's Economic Plan? Just Subtract 40% of Your Income if You're Poor or Middle Class

BESIDES taking healthcare away from virtually everyone except billionaires (elderly, middle class, women and the poor), Trump's economic plan promises to devastate the middle class and poor as well. Here's how:

Trump plans to slap a 20% 'tax' on all goods imported into the US from elsewhere. Hello? That's virtually EVERYTHING. From socks to food. EVERYTHING. And they will in turn pass that extra cost right on to the consumers. So everything we all buy will INCREASE in cost 20%.

There's talk of offsetting that tax on those poor abused corprats with HUGE tax cuts to said corporations. WHO HERE thinks those corporations will in turn pass their tax savings onto the consumer in the form of not increasing the prices of their goods? Well...nobody unless they're a particularly special kind of Pollyanna. They'll just pocket that money and pass that 20% tariff onto the consumer.

Speaking of that 7 TRILLION in tax cuts SCROTUS plans to give to his friends the corprats - WHO do you think will paying those taxes that they no longer have to pay? WE WILL of course. Or, we'll suffer cut services ie: cuts in Medicare and Social Security and cuts in government itself: they're going to close down the EPA, Dept of Ed, Dept of Justice, defund NPR and the arts, etc.

WE. PAY.

I heard tonight on NPR's Marketplace about SCROTUS and his business buddies plans for these tariffs and tax cuts. It was all about THEM. NO MENTION WHATSOEVER about what any of this would mean to THE AMERICAN PUBLIC - YOU KNOW - THE **CONSUMERS** - especially those who have little money to start with and the struggling middle class. NOT. ONE. WORD. about us.

So here's what you do: take your monthly/yearly take-home pay and SLASH minimum 40% off the top. Because that's what it's gonna cost you.

Can you live on 40% less money because everything you have to buy now costs 20% more and you're paying 20% more in income and other taxes now too?

I can't.

And nobody's talking about it. We're like sheep to slaughter here.

First I will have to put my cats to sleep then pack my suitcase with clothes and just walk out the door and find a bridge to sleep under or an abandoned barn. If I did not have my boyfriend that is my reality.

Mortgage, car payment, insurance policies all not imported goods.

You also reject out of hand the possibility of an increase in goods being manufactured in this country.

The tax cuts would just add to the deficit (which I am against) but it is unlikely that a tit for tat tax increase would be implemented.

You seem to be freaking out. Maybe try to think things through. There are enough alternative facts and conspiricy theories out there without this type of creative speculation being posted here.

THAT is going to take a LONG time. Meanwhile, that 20% gets tacked onto the price of EVERYTHING. I assume you wear clothes? Buy food? Maybe 20% increase in cost to these things to you isn't much but to most people, it's significant.

None of this is "alternative fact" or "conspiracy theory". It's simply economic reality for a lot of people.

And worse, it's shocking that it's not even being discussed by the various punditry. It's as if the American consumer doesn't even exist when they are the ones who will be bearing the brunt of this bullshit.

Our trade deficit is around $500 Billion a year.

There really was a time when liberals were against "Free Trade" and were worried about our trade deficit. From my point of view, you are arguing that these Conservative economic policies are good things. I disagree.

If I need to do without buying as many clothes or cutting back on my food bill then so be it.

What is shocking is that you think a shift in trade policy is the end of the world. Presenting it as such is the same as alternative facts and/or conspiracy theories.
