Where did you get the idea that General Flynn was "well liked?" And what do you mean that "then something happened...?"

I haven't heard or read anything like that since General Flynn's ascendance.

General Flynn is actually not unlike the fictional character Colonel Jessup in the film, "A Few Good Men."

In brief, he's a nut.

On April 30, 2014, Flynn announced his retirement effective later in 2014, about a year earlier than he had been scheduled to leave his position. He was reportedly effectively forced out of the DIA after clashing with superiors over his allegedly chaotic management style and vision for the agency. In a private e-mail that was leaked online, Colin Powell said that he had heard in the DIA (apparently from later DIA director Vincent R. Stewart) that Flynn got fired because he was "abusive with staff, didn't listen, worked against policy, bad management, etc." According to The New York Times, Flynn exhibited a loose relationship with facts, leading his subordinates to refer to Flynn's repeated dubious assertions as "Flynn facts".

Please clarify when General Flynn was considered sane.

I could be wrong but it might have been General Barry McCaffrey.

I will say for certain McCaffrey said his opinion of Flynn soured when he did the "lock her up" chant. Mccaffrey said he and other senior military where "disturbed" at Flynn's sudden change.

On MSNBC, General Barry McCaffrey (USA-Ret.) said he was alarmed by the change and tried to counsel Flynn, to no avail. McCaffrey had once had a great respect for Flynn.
