to provide for that, except in the event of a "designated survivor"-type scenario. Even then, a President is in place through survivorship, regardless of how low on the list that person is.

The current representatives would be swept out. The constitution will be updated, like civil rights will be enthroned in it as well as the equal rights amendment. The electoral college will be abolished and representatives will be elected by straight districts on a population basis. Our grievances will be the same as the original constitution. Our separation of powers has been usurped. When you find you are no longer free because of corruption and power, you have the right to throw off the scum and start again. I'm sure you all could think of what you feel it should be.

For Christ sakes! Are DUers that ignorant of our constitution?

There are no presidential election do-overs. No Mulligans!

We have impeachment in the US House followed by conviction (by 2/3 majority) in the US Senate, or we have the 25th Amendment. Either way, if it succeeds we get VEEP Pence as POTUS. If he resigns or something, we get Ryan.

Read your fucking US Constitution and get out of dreamland!

For Christ sakes, we are a country of laws. We don't get to make shit up when things go bad.

We have the rule of law and the separation of powers on our side. That is the only framework under which we can fight this insanity.

Otherwise, what are people suggesting? I shudder to think.

Once that has happened, the only recourse is either impeachment by the House and conviction by 2/3rds of the Senate, or by way of the 25th amendment.

And the GOP holds both sides of congress plus the cabinet members who would have to vote to depose Drumpf for a 25th amendment solution.

Those are our only options.

the Koch brothers, through their many and varied agents, are pressing for a Constitutional convention. Many state legislatures have approved it. They're working to get enough to make this a fait accomplit. It scares the living crap outta me.

It has occurred to me, though, that if a tidal wave of progressive activism breaks just as their attempt to install permanent repressive government happens, we might be able to swamp their boat. Unfortunately, those folks are darn good at rigging rules to their favor. That gets me back to fearing such a gathering.

'Install' and 'leader of the free world' aren't concepts that go together.

We got pretty pissed when the SC installed baby bush.

But I do think our constitution needs a clause that accounts for the modernized cyber coup we are experiencing.

It's a tall order though~

And we've already seen it happen with GWB.

We are in a sorry state if we, a supposed democracy, cannot undo errors so grave that "installation," rather than election, decides who's our national leader.

The F.B.I. has closely examined at least three other {besides Manafort} people close to Mr. Trump, although it is unclear if their calls were intercepted. They are Carter Page, a businessman and former foreign policy adviser to the campaign; Roger Stone, a longtime Republican operative; and Mr. Flynn.

because he had previously said not saying nothing in public, so they scheduled a closed door briefing and then the ba$tard wouldn't say anything?

After I posted, I found this -

But according to several members, Comey would not discuss whether the FBI is or will be investigating any ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, which the intelligence community says sought to influence the election at the behest of the country's president, Vladimir Putin.

“I am hopeful that the FBI, under Director Comey’s direction, is investigating whether or not there were or were not any connections between the Trump campaign and the Russians. He would not really respond to that today,” Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Florida, said.
