Tax returns will be Trump's tapes.

Nixon called it quits when the Supreme's ruled against him in his quest to keep the Oval tapes from being turned over to the Watergate Committee.

At some point in the twisted future, there will be an intersection between all this Russia chit and Trump's taxes. Someone, somehow is going to get discovery on his tax returns. At that point, he'll resign and in true republican tradition, Pence will pardon him and he'll keep the taxes private as a moot point in light of the pardon.

Even at the speed of light this is developing, it'll be 12-18 months IMHO.

These early days are so 1972 deja vu. It was a Haldeman issue, or a Erlichman problem. Everyone blamed Liddy. Finger pointing in a circular firing squad. But eventually, they all got caught up in it.

I have no confidence that the Legislative branch will play it's role but I'm still betting on the Judiciary - even with Gorsuch. As someone once said "The wheels of justice grind slowly but they always grind."

Do you imagine that Trump put all his alleged links to Russia in his tax returns? Even Al Capone wasn't that stupid.

If he didn't - someone is going to have the other side of those transactions. And it's tax evasion.

If he did - it might be treason but it's definitely a problem.

One could argue that Capone would have died at home in bed if he actually did report his bootlegging income on his taxes.

We'll see. That's the fun thing about predicting the future...we both get to be right because nobody real knows shit about it. lol

Al Capone actually did die at home. Overall he only spent seven years in jail. He was paroled due to declining health from a raging case of syphilis. Other than that, I agree with you 100%.

Yep. Fouled on a technicality. Bigtime criminal and they got him on tax evasion charges.

Welcome to DU.

I was aware of the cause of death but never realized that he was paroled. That part of the history wasn't covered in "The Untouchables".

Thanks.

I think Donald Trump is so vain that his tax records will reveal he is not nearly as wealthy as he claims.
