Us geezers having flashbacks to Tricky Dick's downfall. The PENCE pardon of DRUMPF will be"enhanced"

Last edited Wed Feb 15, 2017, 06:07 PM - Edit history (1)

Similarities/differences:

* Today's totally less honorable and craven-for-power Repukes will deprive us of the delicious, spell binding HEARINGS.

* So PENCE is positioned as the Gerald FORD figure, hopefully only for the similarly one-term remnant.

* I'm longing for the day to hear: "Our long national nightmare is over."

* Probably PENCE will issue a Pardon, as with FORD/NIXON.

* But things are more condensed and faster now, so the PENCE/DRUMPF pardon will be ENHANCED (as in "enhanced interrogation&quot and EXTREME (as in "extreme vetting&quot . So it will not just be a Get-out-of-jail-free card; it will be GOLD PLATED, a license for DRUMPF to brand the world!1 "DRUMPF" on the planet will probably be visible from space!1

All depending on DRUMPF's not blowing us up first.

A plaintive P.S.: Sigh. Why do we have to go through all this (for some of us, "again&quot ? To think that it's all because one puny jerk had a thought, "I could be president." And lacking normal insight, instead of his letting the moment pass, he went with the impulse and then, too late, got himself in too deep. And here the rest of us are. It's like that science fiction meme about going back in time to take-out some monster from History before he did what he did.

But do you think Assface would go quietly, a la Nixon?

I don't think he has it in him.

They will have to take him out of the White House dressed like Hannibal Lecter. Pence has quite a nightmare on his hands.

But on second thought, he does seem to have the unfettered risk-taking about him, no limits. NIXON was an old time dude, still under some of the constraints of the past: He recognized the judgment of History (that's why he didn't destroy the tapes). You're right, DRUMPF has no limits from his Richie-Rich entitlement, contrasting to Tricky Dick's Poorboy constraints.

But where would he go if he were able to escape?

like he did in his countless lawsuits cheating his contractors and employees.

Thing is, he can't outlast the Federal courts financially, and so far he can't bully them with threats.

For now we have the courts as a firewall. My thought is that the Russians will call in the markers they have on Trump soon, and he'll melt down. Hopefully, he melts down out of reach of the football. I could definitely see him launching nukes to "save" his ass and make sure the whole fucking world comes down with him. He has a feel of the "Hitler in the bunker" about him.

Because too many of our fellow Baby Boomers didn't learn the lesson the last time around. Like my old man (deceased, a Warren G. Harding-era baby) used to say: "There's no fool like an old fool."

But this is not to pit generations. There are members of all groups, not the whole group.

acknowledge my loose talk. I have marveled for years how posts that I work on for 45 minutes sink like stones while my more erratic things are given profound weight to the point of hundreds of flames.

While I worked hard on the o.p. and was relatively reasonable in my other replies, my post you're referring to was a toss-off that you're giving too much importance to. My overall perspective is that this is *just* an internet discussion board with a wide range of quality, not a scholarly journal. And we *are* talking about something that hasn't happened and might never happen, after all.

But to answer your direct question, there are a LOT of things I would accept for the trade-off of a thoroughly despicable occupant being run off.
