Senate Republicans tell White House to withdraw Puzder nomination

Senior Republican senators are advising the White House to withdraw Andy Puzder's nomination to be secretary of labor, saying he lacks the votes to be confirmed, sources familiar with the matter said Wednesday.

Puzder can lose only two GOP votes in order to be approved, and multiple Republicans have expressed reservations about him.


His confirmation hearing is scheduled for Thursday. But one Senate Republican said that if he wants to withdraw, he must do so before the hearing.

CNN first reported that Republicans lack the votes to confirm Puzder.
