Okay. Bear with me on this. What do Flynn's resignation and Joe Liebermann have in common?

Joe Liebermann was a democratic US-Senator who always sided with the Republicans.

One day, the Democrats decided to primary him. And Fox News reacted with a panicked outcry. Suddenly the fate of the whole western world depended on whether this one US-Senator kept his seat.

Why, oh why, was Fox News so obsessed with ensuring that a Republican-leaning pseudo-Democrat would keep his Senate-seat???????

Flynn did a very stupid, and possibly illegal, AND possibly treasonous, No-No. And for that he resigned.

Now Russia is all up in arms how Flynn's resignation is a war of the anti-russian political establishment against the fresh newcomer Trump. Russia is really weirdly obsessed with Flynn. Flynn is the true victim here!!!

Why, oh why, is Russia so obsessed with what happens to some totally unremarkable and replacable foreign military advisor who could be replaced by literally anybody else from Trump's circle???????

RT: It seems that anybody who looks forward to making any contact with Russia is demonized to an extent. Is it even possible for any US politician to try and have a positive relationship with Russia without becoming a victim of negative press?

Yes, Russia Today. Yes, it is. As long as these "politicians" are actual politicians and not private citizens without any permission, clearance or mandate undermining their own government via covert conversations with foreign governments.

But you never made the connection between Lieberman and Flynn?!??? Sucha NastyWoman Feb 2017 #1
The connection is the out-of-place outrage about their downfall. DetlefK Feb 2017 #2

Fox News couldn't care less about which Democrat holds a particular seat, but then they got all bonkers to save Liebermann.

Russia couldn't care less about some random military advisor of the US-President, but then they go all bonkers on how crucial Flynn was for the US-Russia-relationship.

Russians wanted Flynn in place because he was actually a pro-Russian in disguise. QED
