To me this is terrorism. If islamist terrorists stood in a public square like this they'd be mowed down by police before even a question was asked. This is revolting, what these people believe and what this posturing symbolizes.

(18,472 posts)the standard for safe handling of a firearm is your finger should be extended straight on the frame above the trigger guard. It is not making any defense or judgement as to whether or not the firearm should be handled.

Gunsterbate- that's a new one. What is with the bizarre sex and guns equivalency fetish? I have never felt the need to combine the two in any way.

Let's leave the vilification of knowledge to the other side.

Oh.
Republicons just made law that mentally ill people can get guns. These loons are "jumping the gun", as the saying goes.

(2,226 posts)It was very racist. I believe some court decided they had the right to bring guns to protests. Scared me. I worried for Obama.
starshine00
(531 posts)that they will not risk inconveniencing themselves in any way. They just want to intimidate. But what could happen by accident is what bothers me, and the effect on law enforcement which is already stretched to the gills with policing just the normal amount of crime in Atlanta. This is thumbing its nose at our police departments and it should be stopped and they should be locked up and prosecuted.

(18,472 posts)as there is a significant likelihood a high-velocity round striking concrete near perpendicular will shatter instead of ricochet. Even if it does ricochet much energy will have been expended lessening any resulting injury.

(18,472 posts)The military training is you should know where your round is going, an upward shot is uncontrolled.
I adopted a policy for my Marines I learned from a British soldier. It is the one meter danger zone. It meant that the muzzle should never stray so a round will hit more than a meter from the shooter unless actually engaging a target. If adhered to, the shooter himself is at the greatest risk if a negligent discharge happens.

(531 posts)These are the volunteer brownshirt brigade. And this is very much a threat, and it makes me sick, and I am sure it makes law enforcement sick as well. Just imagine having to deal with this shit on the behalf of a presidential 'rally'...don't they have enough of a hard time dealing with this kind of armament from mafia, gangs, drug cartels, whatever, in Atlanta? If they had any respect at all for law enforcement they would leave this crap at home. I pray for a day in our country when it will be illegal to own these kinds of weapons.
appleannie1943
(1,303 posts)and law enforcement, but to themselves as well. A lot of them end up getting in papers because of what they now term as "accidents". And because of people like them, it makes being a police officer a much more difficult job and the likelihood of an officer shooting someone much higher.

"Throughout the day we're going to have more people, more Trump supporters come to this corner, showing their support for President Trump. We are going to make sure that these people are safe and have the right to have their voices heard without fear of violence or intimidation from any opposing groups."
Hill said he has seen counter-protesters circling the block, but he and his group want to make sure things stay peaceful.
"We want to make it known that this is a peaceful event and we're going to do everything in our power to make sure that remains the case," he said.
Hill said he expects 20 to 30 people to show up for the rally. He said a permit is required if there are more than 35 people, but he does not think that will be the case.

This is like a creep in a raincoat, flashing public in a park.
There is absolutely no reason to be carrying RIFLES and standing around looking like stupid rednecks. Again I ask, what is their point?
This is dangerous and should be illegal. they are not there to "protect" anyone, they are showing their dickguns and trying to appear threatening.
This is what we need to fear, not 5 year old children who they are handcuffing and deporting for our "safety"
