They're clearly different, so don't pay any attention to people saying that they're similar, OK! They have different hats and the uniforms aren't even the same color. For pete's sake...

There's no similarity at all.

(2,337 posts)I mean, they're uniforms. That about it. Pretty superficial.

(53,998 posts)it reminds me of those idiots who post pictures of the old-fashioned Pledge of Allegiance salute, which used to look like a Nazi raised palm salute, but preceded naziism by several decades.

(53,061 posts)These are the uniforms for "Border Patrol Color Guard".
There is also a bagpipes and drum corp uniform

There is one Border Patrol Color guard at each large station. They have 3 functions:
1) Inter agency competitions
2) Presentation of the flag at public events when invited (like a professional baseball game)
3) Presentation of Honor to the Fallen at funerals. In Arizona they have had to perform this function three times in the last 6 months.
Most members of the Border Patrol Color guard are made up from veterans who had experience as color guard in the armed services.
edited to add the caption to the photo that was not part of the OP:

(16,296 posts)more stoic, kinder - Those ICE troopers look grim, scowling, lips turned down and determined to kick someone's ass

They practice the "solemn" look because the most often time that the Color Guard is used is during funerals for Border Patrol Agents, three have died in Arizona in the last few months.
Not ICE and not "dress uniforms".

(37,158 posts)If you're going to make this stretch, you're clearly in "Taking potshots without knowing what I'm talking about" territory.
There are plenty of American uniforms that have more features in common with the SS uniform than the ICE you show, which others have disputed that it's even actually their "dress uniform". Not because of a connection with the SS, mind you, just because of common uniform themes.
Is everyone who wore a uniform to be equated with the SS, MM?
My suggestion is to chalk this one up as a brain fart that seemed clever at the time, but less so upon rereading, and delete the OP.

(53,998 posts)The ICE uniforms are clearly a ranger type cut found in North American history. Similar to US Park Rangers, several state highway patrol styles, and those used by the Canadian Mounties.
ICE is doing terrible things. Fashion will give you no useful insights into their policy errors.

I don't think these are new either. Pretty sure it's the same one they've worn for the last decade or so.
