In case you haven't seen it, from The Hill:

All generalized polls on "bipartisanship" are MEANINGLESS. This one included.
All this poll, and others like it, ever capture is the prevailing sentiment that "We would like it if everyone in DC were rational and sane and could work together to hammer out good policy."
Of course, don't we all want that?
This poll is worse than most because it inserts phrases likes like "on areas of agreement" or "on issues supported" to push the numbers who want "working together" up.
Even if you took out the "areas of agreement" notion and asked "Should members of congress dedicated to strengthening unions work with members of congress dedicated to destroying unions?" Most Americans would still say "Sure, they should work together." (But what they are thinking is "Sure, they should work together, as long as they get what I want out of it."
What Americans actually want is for "their people" in Congress to STOP the policies they see as bad, and go all out for the policies they see as good. Different Americans have different definitions of "good" and "bad," but each and every one of them wants their elected officials to obstruct "badness" and fight for "goodness."
Getting this is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. "They want us to work together" in an incredibly INSIDIOUS and irrational rationalization for giving away that store that Democrats have relied on for decades.
DON'T let your Rep or Senators go back down that road!!

(5,191 posts)For 8 years, the GOP literally wanted to ruin everything President Obama tried to do, no matter how much it hurt the American public. In 2017, Trump's cabinet picks were more of a fuck you to the left then "bipartisanship."
The Republicans idea of bipartisanship is we fuck Democrats over and then make them smile about being mistreated. SCREW THAT!

(9,313 posts)... it's propaganda that the Dems have demonstrated a penchant for. It's worked to get the Dems to pre-emptively surrender without a fight in the past. Why not give it another shot?
I have a feeling it won't work so well in DT's DC. Hope I'm right. If we start hearing things like "Dems need to be careful, if they're too obstructionist there will be backlash" from Dem "strategists" we're in deeper shit than I thought.

(3,115 posts)An asshole who has no interests except lying, preening, grifting the country and jacking up that regrettably large segment of the populace who keep thinking he's going to show up and plant a huge pot of gold on their doorsteps?
Dems need to fight hard!

(135,425 posts)I want them to persist until he is impeached.
And then I want them to cage Pence so he can't accomplish any of his monstrous, mouth-breathing, backward ideas.
And then I want them to retake at least one chamber of Congress, and the White House.
I'll be satisfied with that.
