It staggers the imagination. "America the Beautiful"?

(44,129 posts)this country these days. The greed is surreal.
What I find so appalling is that tRump is getting away with scamming tax dollars to fund his golf getaways at his private resort, while bragging about not paying any Federal taxes in two decades.
Wtf...

(14,559 posts)I didn't EXPECT him to win, but the day he announced and for a year and a half I told people:
1) he was a very real threat to win the nomination because he totally fit the mindset if the republican base at that point.
2) if he got the nomination, this country was absolutely stupid enough to make him POTUS.

(725 posts)Watch the original series star trek episode with william shatner entitled 'the squire of gothos'. Thats how trump sees things. As his own personal playground. Hes a billionaire and has done everything else except being president. He also wants people to not believe the truth about him, which is why he wants people not to believe the media and always has put the media down.

(3,286 posts)...I've been expecting this for years. As Canadians, we get to compare our own social progress against 'America the Mighty' on a daily basis. At times the USA has been like the Homer Simpson of the western hemisphere; good-hearted but prone to bad decision making.
The USA is a massive sales machine so who better to run it than a 'really great salesman'? What could go wrong....???

(146,262 posts)elect our party's candidate. Who would ever believe that we, as Democrats, couldn't get enough voters out to elect Hillary Clinton over that buffoon?
I sure can't imagine that, but it happened. Shall we do better from now on? I hope so.

(5,499 posts)It just seems as if people don't have well developed critical thinking skills. I wonder if part of that is due to the high costs of college cause many students to piecemeal their degree over several years, working in classes between shifts. Or starting at the local community college before transferring to a four year college or university. Those in college need the time to think and learn how to learn.
