Sixteen news agencies wrote him a letter imploring him to maintain this tradition after the first time he ditched them and went to a steakhouse.

Further thoughts on why this is necessary in this Slate article: http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2016/11/16/why_the_press_is_right_to_freak_out_over_trump_sneaking_to_a_steakhouse.html

The cash is still going into Don's pockets. Before he was POTUS it was $100,000 to join. After it's $200,000 to join. I bet the price of everything else has gone up as well. So the taxpayers are shelling out $3 million every weekend so Trump can give his guests the "presidential" experience. Ka-ching. Ka-ching. Ka-ching. This is better than Bernie Madoff's scheme.

I think he would hate that!
There are enough cabinet members in place and congress needs to be working, those are the stories the press needs to report on.
Trump is a bunch of sticky icky fluff.
We need to focus on making sure the country does not get broken beyond repair.
If he wants attention, he should call a press conference. He shows his stuff well enough in that type of setting.

Local news still has a bite!

If your money was on President Trump staying away from Saturday night’s Discovery Gala because of politics, well, you can kiss those Benjamins goodbye.

So what if his executive order on immigration is creating a backlash among the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s medical professionals, who are urging organizers to find a less politically charged venue for the event. It’s a party, and POTUS and his FLOTUS — she dressed in eye-catching magenta — were both in high spirits, having just returned from a triumphant rally in Melbourne and what pundits are describing as the first political rally of the 2020 campaign.

This was about celebrating, not politics.

Celebrating, from the Latin root celebrare meaning “assemble to honor” and not politics, from the Greek roots poli meaning “many” and tics, meaning “bloodsucking little creatures.”
