Question:Could #45 simply order a PREEMPTIVE nuclear strike on a country by pushing a button with NO

safeguards available to prevent such a disaster? In other words, can he simply launch missiles at any country when the mood hits him?

But if you mean an invasion or bombing? That requires a lot of groundwork before it happens.

who the president is, because it seems void of any checks or balances. I think the rationale is, if there were an incoming threat seconds are at play, so there is really no time to convene/discuss. The way it's supposed to work, I think, is that by the time it reaches the president's level it's been well vetted. The problem I see with Trump, for example, is he seems to trust none and shoots from the hip.
