Watched an Independent Lens on Birth of a Nation which hubby then followed up with something on the neo-Nazi / white supremacy movement in America that covered the Oklahoma City bombing, Waco, Ruby Ridge.
What strikes me is the durability of these movements in America. A dark stain on our history that continues to this day.

(8,760 posts)Have you ever seen the documentary "Blood in the face" from 1991 ?
It highlighted a man who took in neglected kids and showered them with love and attention while indoctrinating them.
I believe it also had a segment where neo-nazis were talking about creating a new generation of politicians who were more subtle about their racism who could then infiltrate government.

(24,717 posts)I don't think we will ever completely eliminate these dark forces. They can only be countered and contained. What we are experiencing now is complete domination at the federal level by them. They are at the core of our history.

(26,877 posts)...a week after showing the Oklahoma City bombing documentary (which contained quite a bit about Ruby Ridge).
I think they're trying to warn its viewers about the new alt right by showing what it was 20 years ago. It didn't die with McVeigh and Vicki Weaver.
