According to commentators, he is still on active duty, so he cannot say no to SCROTUS.

(6,034 posts)He is a career army officer. Went to west point.
Seems like he is a much better appointment than Flynn.

The fact that they've reached into the ranks of active military to fill the position tells us a lot about how well that fine-tuned machine is running.

(111,237 posts)The sticking point for the others has been Bannon. They want their own NSC staff and they don't want Bannon on it.
Dolt45 is so terrified of admitting Bannon managed to pull a fast one on him that he's not budging.

(12,646 posts)The other pick declined to work with this Administration. This guy's PhD dissertation was on what went wrong with the Vietnam strategy when applied to weak or poorly defined objectives. Not necessarily a National Security guy, but closer to Mitchell than Patton in terms of international strategies.
Definitely not a pick from someone who wants to blow up the Government or start a Nationalist Holy War...
It could have been worse. It could have been Bolton.
