General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI'm over this whole "not my president" BS.....
HE IS.
Don't get me wrong. I loath this hypocritical, xenophobic, America selling out, incompetent, racist, lying, pice of dried out turd on a bad stretch of rt666 as much as the next sane person. However, he IS our president. (I'm speaking for us Americans, not the rest of the world.....).
He IS the head of the Executive Branch of our government, the Commander in Cheif of our armed forces, and is who represents ALL of us to the rest of the world. That sucks! I don't mean for twenty bucks in the back alley kind of sucks (and that's bad)...I mean sucks like Nile silt encrusted hippopotamus balls....SUCKS!
Even still, What the fuck America?
If your house is on fire, sitting in your living room with your eyes closed doesn't make the problem go away. For that you need an extinguisher, and/or perhaps the number to your local FD. In a pinch, 911 still works.
I too would like to click my heals three times and say "there's no place like America," (and I've tried.) Alas, when I open my eyes, well, where all still right in the here and now. SUCKS!
The first step to solving any problem is recognizing it exists.
This Asshat IS the president of the United States of America.
Now, if we can all identify the problem, we can begin to solve it. Grassroots campaigns, letters to the media, clogging the phone lines and e-mail accounts of our local and federal politicians........even threatening they're jobs if that fail to act......
We can't hide under the bed counting, hoping the lighting is getting further away.
No mater how fucked this all seems, we are still living in a Democracy! When it's all said and done, We The People are the bosses of them, but We The People must always have the courage to remember that.
Let's put truth to work!

(35,041 posts)And that is something that is constructed every day, not once every four years.
The more people who refuse the notion of "Trump does X, says X, or advocates X... and I agree with that.", then the less power he has.
"Not my President" is simply another form of this refusal.

But this ass is a trickster, and we openly turn our backs on him, we're giving him more space to abuse power. I dig the concept of the protest, but the statement is wrong. This Pig (Expletive deleted) unfortunately IS our president. We can't fight lies with lies, we must face the truth.

(35,041 posts)And it's a continually constructed thing... on both sides. Being president is more than getting electoral votes. Is he the president even when he acts "Unpresidential" (or unpresidented)? Is he president when he doesn't stand up for all Americans? Is he president when he declares the media an enemy? Can he really still be OUR president when he fosters paranoia against OUR fellow citizens and the residents of this country?
To me, it seems like the protesters aren't the only ones saying "Not my President", the man who is saying this the loudest is Trump himself...

(1,756 posts)From D.C. to San Francisco.....but I also haven't missed an election(and I mean any, from presidential down to town council) since I was 18. Sitting out the big battle and then organizing to bitch that your team doesn't agree seems counterintuitive. In 2016 only 55% of registered voters bothered to show up. Thus, this apathy goes back to before 45 was "elected."
Yes, he's dismantling our freedoms, and in real time, HD. He can't find a coherent tweet with two aids and a flashlight. And let's not forget, he doesn't mind committing any kind of crime, including, it would seem, High Treason! Then bragging about it in public, hours before claiming he has no knowledge on the subject, but the bastards who are claiming he is in the wrong are "Fake News"
So in response to all of that, we should, what, play hooky from work/school for a day and preten were Guy Fawkes wile walking down the street next to people who didn't even vote and say, "fuck it, I refuse to claim him?"
Or should we write/call/e-mail the justice department and our congressman/senators and demand this crook be held accountable for the bullshit he thinks he can get away with.
If we're going to gather in the thousands in one place or another, shouldn't it be on the steps of the Capital Building and the Supreme Court to demand criminal proceedings begin, instead of down Constitution Ave declaring we've now decided to turn a blind eye to a Huge Fucking Problem.....
I don't want it to be true, but just declaring 45's "not my president" doesn't make it so. I want real change, not what went down with 43. A lot of talk bitching, but no change.
Btw, that fucker Wasn't my president. He was appointed, not elected. This Ass (unfortunately) was. Allegedly........

This isn't king worship, its citizen worship!
Remember Nixon?
I'm just saying calling a human pig (expletive deleted) a pig doesn't make it so. So let's not pretend this asshat doesn't wield the power he has. HE does. Let's collectively work to remove him from power.
This isn't Merlin defeating Morgana. Forgetting won't solve the problem. Besides, that bit of self induced ignorance came at a heavy cost too....

NOT.GONNA.DO.IT.
I will fight him and his minions every inch of the way. They are racist, misogynistic jackasses who want to take any power and/or legitimacy away from anybody who does not agree with his agenda.
I can identify the problem right now. There has been monkey business all over the place to install someone who has ties and economic interests in gawd knows how many other places. He will ALWAYS act in a way to benefit himself. ALWAYS.
So you are more than welcome to look for the problem. You can form committees and whatever to your hearts content.
I will be working with the many groups who are already taking action and in the streets, corridors of power, or wherever.
So if you are tired of 'not my president,' either put cotton in your ears or go away.

This all started with me "ranting"
I'm just asking all of us who think to not deny facts just because we don't like them, like "45 can sign executive orders, and in fact has, and will agin" or "he can order military strikes against....whoever."
I loathe 45. So much so I can't even use his name. I loathe him. He's a waste of a good jerking off. It makes my skin crawl that he's actively representing not only me, but my friends, family, and soil to the rest of the world. And it scares me to death that he has his finger on the button.
But it is.
And unless you've denounced your citizenship to the USA, he IS your president. So you can stick your head in the sand an mumble "not my problem" or you can face the cold truth. How did you put it......WAKE UP!
If you claim to love this country, then you must respect it. Not him, but America.
I don't have to like that he is the president. I can legally work to make it not true any longer. But I cannot deny the fact that that pice of pre-(expletive deleted)'s ass is sitting in the Oval Office.
Are you telling me you can?

Forget it, leave or die is all the white pig racists and their supporters are saying, as well as to immigrants from south of our border. He is prezident of ameriKKKans, of this you are correct, so I can say, this isn't really my country any more either, now for sure. (1,629 posts)Do you even have a f*cking CLUE what "democracy" is?
For a start IT'S NOT MINORITY RULE.
And the People are NOT the "bosses" in a system where the People can be overridden in electing a president (EC).
The People are NOT the "bosses" in a system 18% of the US population gets 52% of the seats in the Senate where they have a veto over a gerrymandered House
The People are NOT the "bosses" in a system where states with 4% of the US population can block any amendment... yet states with 40% can ratify any amendment.

Is he a politician? The politicians have said no. Even though I guess technically NOW you could call him one. He was never one before.
Is he a man? Perhaps he's got some of the parts but I don't think he can be considered a real man.
He's got a new title now but that does not mean he embodies what that title SHOULD embody.
Why do you care if people denounce him as the holder of a title he does not deserve?

(1,629 posts)Why are you claiming a fake vote count when we have a grotesquely antidemocratic system of electing president? There is simply NOTHING in the Constitution that says a president must be legitimate by democratic standards. It's now clear that the EC has a GOP bias... but then so does federalism. If my numbers are correct Dem Senators represent 33 million more people than GOPers... yet the GOP controls the Senate too.
One MIGHT think that in the US Democrats would be the ones standing up for democratic principles... but there's little evidence of that. Democrats simply don't value democracy which explains why they have no long term strategy to make the US democratic.
Maybe the Trump Junta will finally clarify the importance of this core value. But then the Bush Junta didn't.
zipplewrath
(16,646 posts)I get the whole idea, but it kind of speaks to a logical disconnect. There is no "my" president. There is just "the" president and he's it. We heard similar crap outta the GOP with Obama. I don't even buy the "legitimate" part because I've read the constitution six ways from Sunday and by all the rules lain out there, and where the authority to determine who is the "legitimate" president, he checked off all the boxes. It speaks to the ugly underbelly of the whole "anyone can become president" concept. (And strangely, the authors of the constitution actually tried to make that not be true).
He is the minority president. And he is a slow motion train wreck. He's the Russian Ambassador to the US. And some folks are predicting he'll be a less than one term president. But none of that is helped by this concept, and to some extent it is hindered because we surely don't want anyone thinking that in anyway he isn't president, until he is truly not.
