Ever since we lost, folks have said WE didn't do enough to reach the voters Cheeto got

I have never ascribed to this. I know we all floundered around Nov 9th and asked what the hell....we had our monthly DEM meeting Nov 9th and one lady alder stood up and said we should go to taverns and hang around them and get them to like us. My eyes bugged out of my head. When I was young and lived in Berkeley we didn't expect pols to come to us. WE informed OURSELVES. And we had no cars, no cellphones, no tvs, no internet. We had ourselves and perhaps a radio and each other.

Why have voters, young and old, gotten so lame and lazy? It is our duty as citizens to be informed and not expect the leaders to molly coddle us.....here in WI it is said all the time, gee, HRC didn't come here enough.....HUH? You really couldn't tell the difference between her and Trump? You needed her to come here and talk to you? All crap. And the reason she did lose in WI was cheating, both legal cheating and illegal cheating, I will believe this to my dying day.

So at 18 and now at 65, I am not going to go to Cheeto voters' haunts and sweet talk them. Anymore than I will invite my abusive ex over Sunday to play scrabble with me.

At this point, there's no reaching them. Maybe at some point...I hope.

Middle America should've had an opinion and should've voiced it.

is weird. Even if it personally miffs you, what kind of basis is that for voting? You'd think people would be kind of embarrassed to admit that. I think it's one of those excuses people hide behind. It's really a ridiculous rationale and it's annoying to me that reporters/newspapers/tv pundits never challenge it. To just ask, "Why is it important to you that a candidate visit your state multiple times? How many times would have been enough?"

The deplorbles were trolling -as he laid out a comprehensive, liberal strategy for our city's future. I trolled the right back-because there was no talking to someone who tells me "if you love so much go hug a suicide bomber"

fucking moron.

I don't mean most Trump voters. We will never reach a majority of them - that's just the way mass politics is. But what do you think campaigning is? It's about trying to reach persuadable voters plus energizing your supporters. Trump sure as hell tried to reach some of Obama's voters, and he got some in a few key states that narrowly went for him, and that settled the outcome.

Yes of course I agree that I wish everyone took every opportunity to stay up to date on all of the candidates and all of the issues and all of the promises made and how realistic they are etc. etc. etc. I support having a public education system that instills those values. Meanwhile though a lot of elections are close. And a whole lot can be riding on who wins and who loses. If the difference matters to us it makes sense to do what we can to make sure that critical relatively small percentage of swing voters swing in our direction. But no one is forcing you or me to do anything. The candidates however ask for our money in order to mount actual campaigns. Whether that money gets spent well strategically is always a fair question to ask.
