Why do we need to understand Trump voters? They need to understand us.

They don't. At all. They do not, nor do they care to understand us. Their rhetoric is everywhere. 40 years of Rush Limabugh, AM hate radio, and the conservative's just total fucking hatred for the "liberal media" which doesn't exist anymore gave us Trump. Conservative talking points dominate the news. Need proof? There's 32 channels of nonstop religion broadcasting 24 / 7 on DirecTV, yet we only get one hour per week of "Real Time With Bill Maher" and a half hour per week of "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver". And both shows are on the same channel. Conservative books dominate the bookshelves. Need proof? Just browse your local airport bookstore or the bookstore at your local Costco. Conservative guests dominate the talk shows. Need proof? Just watch Meet The Press. Look at Milo on Maher this week - you hear more about that than you do about Larry Wilmore. In fact, Trump supporters will tell you that Larry Wilmore came off as hostile and arrogant.

Their refusal to work with the other side will ultimately hurt them in the long run. In fact in the election, more people voted against Obama than they did for Trump. They don't know why they've been brainwashed to hate liberals, they've been told to do so by AM hate radio and Fox News pundits. They don't know why they hate us, they only hate us for the perceived notion that their precious guns are going to be taken away. Or that we hate Jesus. We don't. But if anything the NRA should be thanking democrats - anytime one of us is in power, sales of their killing machines go through the roof!

We have no voice now. We live in a world where "alternative facts" and "fake news" are a thing. I mean seriously, at one point Les Moonves, the president of CBS, the very "liberal media" that the republicans rail against, said that Trump wasn't good for America, but he was good for ratings. You say Trump spends too much time playing golf? They'll tell you the statistics on that are fake. You say the Bowling Green Massacre never happened? They'll ask you for proof. I mean, shit, they're still hung up on Pizzagate! They think that Hillary Clinton and John Podesta actually ran a child sex ring out of the basement of Comet Ping Pong. And you say that Comet Ping Pong never had a basement to begin with! They'll tell you it's a cover up.

What they need to understand is that we don't want theocracy. We don't want a fascist dictatorship. If you've seen history, you know what happens to tyrants. The first amendment guarantees freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press. The republicans have already knocked off freedom of the press, and now they're coming for freedom of religion. These are things that make America the great place to live that it is, and now these things are being taken away from us. These are rights, not privileges. We also want unions to make things better for workers. They don't. They're perfectly fine with CEOs making 150 times what the average worker does.

There was a time when we fought wars to keep people like Trump from getting power. And the republicans have become everything they hate about democrats. Safe spaces? They have plenty of them. They need their own fucking news network because they don't trust the major ones. Infowars was founded on the premise that the "mainstream media lies to you 24/7". Snowflakes? Look at Andrew Puzder - when the mere rumor that he wasn't going to be confirmed was flying around, bowed out quietly with his tail between his legs! Boycotts? They've had six threatened boycotts since the election because they're so thin skinned. We've had just one. They say we need to grow a spine. They're so spineless that they don't want to be seen in public because they're afraid of protestors following them! Hey, Obama got death threats on an almost daily basis while he was in office, and he sucked it up and went out in public. Can't say Mitch McConnell or Trump himself will go out in public very much.

If they actually took time to understand us, that would be one thing. But they want us gone. Dead. They would prefer we didn't exist. Don't believe me? Check your Twitter and Facebook feeds. They want us gone. They drink out of their "liberal tears" coffee mugs with pride and wear Trump t-shirts. I've seen extreme violence and hatred advocated toward us since the election. They wear their anti PC sentiments with pride. If you dare speak against Trump or any republican, you get called a libtard, a Marxist, out of touch elitist, or worse and run out of town. We don't need to understand them. They need to understand us. We need to turn that line of thinking around.

They are gleeful that dems/liberals are unhappy with the election. They poke fun at 'liberal tears' & call us snowflakes. I believe that they hate dems/liberals more than they hate minorities.

When Obama was prez, I knew there was a huge contingent who believed that he was going to change America in terrifying ways (for them) & I didn't understand it, but I never took pleasure from their angst. These people, though, are happy to see half of America fearful.

on edit: They also have an attitude that rural, white, Christian people are more American than the rest of us.

They are almost sadistic as to how they've treated us since the election. We didn't do that for 8 years of Obama, but we put up with 8 years of their bullshit and constant obstruction, and how poorly Obama was treated.
