Jewish Cemetery Desecrated
On the heels of bomb threats and hate crimes against dozens of Jewish community center's across the United States, a historical Jewish cemetery was vandalized this past weekend when over 100 headstones were damaged. Muslim Americans stand in solidarity with the Jewish-American community to condemn this horrific act of desecration against the Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery. We also extend our deepest condolences to all those who have been affected and to the Jewish community at large.
The Campaign
In a campaign organized by Linda Sarsour (MPower Change) and Tarek El-Messidi (CelebrateMercy), the Muslim-American community extends our hands to help rebuild this sacred space where Jewish-American families have laid their loved ones to rest since the late 1800's. Campaign proceeds will go directly to the Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery in lieu of the recent damage. Any remaining funds - after the cemetery is restored - will be allocated to repair any other vandalized Jewish centers.

In addition, none of your donation will go to paying the middleman's platform fee.

Behind the Aegis
(53,833 posts)I am always disgusted by people who are "shocked" when Jews do something nice for Muslims, yet would never express the same shock at a story like this. Frankly, this story and others are much more common than most know in the United States. There may be disagreements between our peoples, but we both understand what it is to be persecuted, what it means to have our allegiances challenged, what it means to be held responsible for the sins of our brethren, and to be blamed for violence against us.
The opposite of "up" is "down", the opposite of "right" is "left", but the opposite of "Jew" is not "Muslim", nor the reverse.
